SIMBAO CLARIFIES REMARKS, REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR UPND CANDIDATE
Luanshya Former Luanshya Member of Parliament Hon. Lusale Simbao has clarified recent media reports suggesting he stated it would be difficult to campaign for UPND parliamentary candidate George Mamonwa.
Mr. Simbao explained that he had not met Mr. Mamonwa personally, as he was engaged in Lusaka during the adoption process. He emphasized that his absence should not be interpreted as a rejection of the candidate.
“I have accepted the UPND’s decision not to re-adopt me, and my loyalty to the party and its leadership remains firm,” Mr. Simbao said.
He further affirmed that he will fully support the UPND candidate in Luanshya and will actively campaign for victory in the 13 August 2026 general elections. He called on party members and residents to remain united and to keep the focus on development in the constituency.
Party Commends Simbao’s Unity Call
Luanshya District UPND Media Director Rev. Lordmayor Nsalange commended Mr. Simbao for his gracious and unifying statement following the adoption of Mr. Mamonwa as the UPND parliamentary candidate for Luanshya Constituency.
Rev. Nsalange said Mr. Simbao had demonstrated political maturity, loyalty, and a commitment to peace and unity at a time when division could easily take hold.
“Hon. Simbao’s contribution to Luanshya’s development during his tenure remains part of the constituency’s progress and will not be forgotten,” Rev. Nsalange stated.
He urged Mr. Simbao to continue offering his wisdom and experience as the party mobilizes toward the 2026 general elections, in the spirit of unity and progress.

PRESS STATEMENT
By Reverend Nsalange Lordmayor
Luanshya UPND Media Director
RESPONSE OF APPRECIATION AND GOODWILL TO HON. LUSALE SIMBAO
I wish to acknowledge and appreciate the gracious and unifying statement issued by Hon. Lusale Simbao following the adoption of Mr. George Mamonwa as the UPND Parliamentary Candidate for Luanshya Constituency.
Hon. Simbao has demonstrated political maturity, loyalty to the party, and commitment to the greater good of Luanshya and Zambia. In a time when emotions can easily divide people, he has chosen the higher road of peace, unity, and democratic respect for party processes. Such leadership deserves recognition and appreciation.
As the people of Luanshya, we cannot speak of the recent chapter of our constituency without recognizing the developmental works and dedication that marked his tenure as Member of Parliament. His contribution to infrastructure development, community engagement, and advocacy for the people will remain part of the story of Luanshya’s progress.
History may not always record every effort in grand headlines, but it faithfully remembers those who gave what they had for the people they served. Like the words spoken in Scripture concerning Mary Magdalene — “She did what she could” — so it shall also be remembered of Hon. Lusale Simbao: he did what he could for Luanshya.
As we move forward toward the 2026 General Elections, may this spirit of unity continue to prevail. The task before us is bigger than individuals; it is about the future of our people, the growth of our constituency, and the continued development of our nation.
We therefore extend our goodwill to Hon. Simbao and encourage him to continue offering his wisdom, experience, and counsel as an elder statesman within the party and the community. His role remains important, and his contribution remains valued.
May peace, unity, and victory prevail for Luanshya and for the UPND.
