A Zambian registered NGO transforming communities to move from handouts to sustainability through development innovations
Kachere Development Program hereinafter called KDP is a concept that was born out of the concern to roll out community oriented development programs. The program which is a locally grown and tailored initiative takes a transitional process of local parish initiatives over the past three years (2008-2011) provided a framework and platform for scale up. Resulting from this success story, Kachere Dev
elopment Program (KDP) was born to foster wider engagement of the diocese in the Social Ministry programs which would meet the aspirations of the whole Eastern Province. The Diocese through the Office of the Bishop in consultation with the Archdeacons recognised the fact that God has placed each one of workers with special gifts to be used to His glory. Following wider consultations and presentation at the previous Standing Committee meetings, the Program has started taking shape; having passed the first stage of approval to start its operations. Against this background, KDP has been sanctioned to start operating officially as an autonomous NGO of the diocese to spearhead all integrated health and development programs and projects of the Diocese. KDP will establish field offices in 6 of the districts in the Eastern province as a way of strengthening linkages and coordination of programs at grassroots level.
