📢 NOTICE TO ALL CBU STUDENTS
CBU SPORTS DAY 2026

Theme: Cultivating Excellence and Innovation Through Active Living

As preparations continue for the first-ever CBU Sports Day, all students are informed that each year of study is required to nominate two (2) representatives to attend a planning meeting.

Meeting Details

Date: 14 July

Time: 14:00 Hours

Venue: ZCommon Room

The representatives will receive important information regarding team registration, sporting disciplines, fixtures, rules, and other key arrangements for the Sports Day. It is therefore important that every year of study is represented by two representatives.

We also wish to remind the entire CBU community that the Sports Day is open to all students, and everyone is encouraged to participate. This is a historic occasion as it marks the first-ever CBU Sports Day in the history of The Copperbelt University.

🏆 Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each sporting category:

In addition to the sporting competitions, there will be entertainment, exciting giveaways, and performances by invited artists. Members of University Management, staff, and , making it a memorable event for the entire CBU community.

THE COPPERBELT UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY IS HEREBY INFORMED THAT THE FIRST EVER CBU SPORTS DAY WILL BE HELD ON 17TH JULY 2026.

This historic event is being organized to promote unity, talent, teamwork, fitness, and school spirit among all students of The Copperbelt University.

COMPETITION FORMAT

Students will compete according to their year of study:

First Year Team

Second Year Team

Third Year Team

Fourth Year Team

Fifth Year Team

School of Medicine Team

Each team is encouraged to begin preparations immediately and select participants for the various sporting disciplines.

TEAM REPRESENTATIVES

Each year group and the School of Medicine are requested to nominate one representative to attend a planning and coordination meeting. The date, venue, and time of this meeting will be communicated in due course. Representatives will play a key role in coordinating team participation and ensuring successful preparation for the Sports Day.

RE: COMMENCEMENT OF SPORTS COURTS RENOVATION WORKS

The Office of the Minister of Sports and Recreation would like to inform the student community that the renovation project for the sports courts has officially commenced.
Today, the contractor was on site conducting preliminary assessments and measurements in preparation for the renovation works. The actual construction and rehabilitation works are scheduled to begin tomorrow.

As previously communicated, the Basketball, Volleyball, and Netball courts are now closed to all users and will remain inaccessible throughout the duration of the project until the works are completed and the facilities are declared safe for use.

Students are kindly requested to cooperate by avoiding the construction area and adhering to all notices and safety instructions that will be displayed around the site. This will help ensure the safety of everyone and allow the project to progress without interruptions.

These renovations are being undertaken to improve the quality of our sports facilities and enhance the sporting experience for all students. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this period.
Further updates regarding the progress of the project and the reopening of the facilities will be communicated in due course.
