Given Chipewo CBU President 🙏🏾

After receiving several reports about the closure of boarding houses by council officers, the COBUSU President elect, Given Chipewo, also known as The CBU Bulldozer, visited the Kitwe City Council today. He was accompanied by the Interim President and Prime Minister for a meeting with the District Commissioner, the Deputy Mayor, who is also the Riverside Ward Councilor, and several other councilors from Kwacha.

The President elect also raised concerns regarding high boarding house prices, sanitation, overcrowding, and maintenance. He emphasized the need for boarding houses to meet minimum requirements aligned with the pricing.

We want to inform all relevant stakeholders, including students and boarding house owners, that a solution is being developed to prevent boarding houses from closing due to the owners’ mistakes. It was made clear that no student should be locked out because of issues related to boarding house owners not following guidelines such as having necessary documentation.
