CELEBRATING AFRICAN HERITAGE, UNITY, AND FREEDOM

Yesterday, Kitwe YMCA College proudly hosted a Cultural Heritage Day in commemoration of Africa Freedom Day, celebrated annually on 25th May.

The event provided an exciting platform for students to showcase the rich diversity of Africa by presenting various African countries, highlighting their colonial history, cultural practices, traditional attire, values, music, languages, and unique ways of life. Students demonstrated how different communities across the continent preserve respect, identity, and social traditions that continue to shape modern Africa.

One of the highlights of the day was the preparation and exhibition of traditional African dishes from different countries and regions. The delicious meals reflected the continent's rich culinary heritage and allowed participants to experience Africa's diversity through food.

The Cultural Heritage Day was more than just a celebration; it was an educational experience that promoted cultural awareness, unity in diversity, patriotism, and appreciation of Africa's history and achievements. It reminded students of the sacrifices made by African freedom fighters and inspired them to take pride in their identity while embracing the values of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect.

At Kitwe YMCA College, we believe that understanding our heritage is key to building confident, responsible, and globally-minded citizens. Together, let us continue celebrating Africa's rich cultural heritage and preserving it for future generations.

Today, YMCA Kitwe proudly participated in the National Youth Day celebrations, an event that resonates deeply with the aspirations of young people across the nation. This year’s theme, "ARISE and SOAR," served as a powerful reminder to our members and YMCA students to embrace their potential, uplift one another, and take an active role in enhancing the well-being of our beloved country.

As an organization, YMCA is dedicated to empowering young individuals, fostering their growth, and inspiring them to contribute to the African Renaissance. We believe that by instilling a sense of purpose and community engagement, we can help the youth not only to rise but to soar to new heights for a brighter future.

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved member, Justine Chipembele, an active and dedicated youth of the YMCA Luangwa Branch.

Justine was a vibrant, committed, and inspiring young person whose presence brought energy, unity, and purpose to our branch. His contribution to youth activities and community programs will always be remembered and cherished.

Today, as he’ll be laid to rest, we join his family, friends, and loved ones in mourning this great loss. We pray for strength, comfort, and peace for everyone affected during this difficult time.

May his soul rest in eternal peace. 🕊️

On behalf of the YMCA family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
