We have our own Wilderness restaurant guide, tried and tested regularly by the team. Top spot, at least for carnivores, usually goes to Joplin’s, a cozy cabin where they serve only steak (whatever cut you prefer, done exactly to your specifications), topped with garlic butter and a fried egg, and served with chips (and a salad, if you must). With a “melktert” shot - vodka and condensed milk - to end 👌🏽

Sinking into balmy summer … Moon River is one of our favourite suites, not least for the lekke veranda chairs, inviting happy contemplation … with a G&T or glass of Sauvignon from your fridge 😉

So many birds active as the sun starts it’s descent - the blue half-collared kingfisher taking an evening bath from the bank was a real highlight, as were the thousands of barn swallows hunting insects in flight

For some birding is practically a religious experience – their beauty, their elegance, their loyalty – did you know that 90% of bird species are monogamous? Many – like this malachite kingfisher, one of 94 species spotted from Moontide’s decks and garden over a 4 day period by Shaun Peard from Atlas Birding Project – are extraordinary, like flying gems!
