Last week Dr. Trusia Burgers shared her story of being diagnosed with breast cancer. Studying medicine made her aware of the probability of being diagnosed, but it still didn’t prepare her for the impact it had on her life. She was determined to not just lie down and accept it, but instead to fight and embrace life.

In celebration of her journey, Herman Lensing baked her an Italian pine nut tart with Pink Lady® apples and a Gugelhupf cake.

In episode 8 of Herman en die Ladies, we got to listen as Anishka shared her emotional journey. While planning her dream wedding, she received the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer. This left her with only five days of wedding planning before she had to undergo 16 rounds of chemo, a double mastectomy and radiation, at the very young age of 27. Today she is one year in remission and such an inspiration to us all.

Herman Lensing spoiled Anishka with a caramel and Pink Lady® apple cake as well as a classic cremé caramel.
