DKA Autoworx has been a proud venture of mine for the past 18 months. I have received the most amazing support from all my customers and I would like to start off by sincerely thanking each and every one for entrusting me with your vehicle and furthermore, supporting my small business.

I have been blessed with a great work opportunity in New Zealand within the automotive trade, so I'll be relocating in a few short weeks.

It is with great sadness (and much excitement for what the future holds!) that DKA Autoworx will officially close doors on 03 February in preparation for the big move.

There are limited slots open for general services until 03-02-23, so please don't delay with getting in touch should you need your vehicle serviced before then.

Your car battery is one of the most important components required for it to run. The car’s battery is responsible for providing a large amount of electrical current for the starter, engine and other electronic accessories in the vehicle. Extreme temperatures affect the performance of the battery so regular battery testing will ensure that the battery will perform when you need it to.

NISSAN LIVINA 1.6 in the DKA workshop today to receive a new timing chain.

Your car’s engine has many moving parts in order to make it run properly - including in some vehicles a timing chain. This connects the engine's crankshaft to the camshafts and makes everything work well in conjunction with one another. Even though they're metal, this does not mean that they're invincible!

Look out for poor engine performance, starting problems, uneven idling, extreme rattle noise or worst case; complete engine failure to know you may be due for a replacement timing chain.

FORD KUGA 1.6 ECOSPORT came into the DKA Autoworx workshop with a water leak and engine light on.

We inspected and found that the water pump failed and damaged the cambelt with antifreeze. Timing went out due to the soiled cambelt.

What would happen if the cambelt fails? The engine could seize causing steering and brakes to fail. The pistons could hit the valves in the cylinders, damaging the engine.

We fitted a new cambelt, water pump and fanbelt. 📷 Pictured are a few images that we share with our customers to see the damage and the new parts, keeping them in the loop every step of the way.

Over the weekend, we received a visit from Martin and his friend (from England) who decided to hire a "bush truck" as they've called it (Toyota Hilux for us local okes!) and after 11 days touring Botswana, they're on an 11 day trip through SA. Thank you for our first "international" review - we wish you well and safe travels!

Cool Car Fact: 60 million cars are produced every year. That’s 165,000 a day, 6,875 an hour and 115 a minute — crazy right? While there were only 500 million in 1986. According to a report released by a research house Bernstein, there will be a total of 2 billion cars on the planet by 2040.

Take a look at the amount of debris that is caught in a worn pollen filter (also known as a cabin / aircon filter). This Honda Jazz is again in top nick after receiving a new filter.

Not adhering to the replacement intervals can cause the filter to block which results in polluted air entering the vehicle and cause the interior fan performance to decrease.

If you’ve got a family member who’s quite allergic to dust and other airborne particles then you might want to replace the cabin air filter of your car more regularly. It’s one of the easiest ways to keep everyone safe and comfortable inside your vehicle.

DKA’s top tip: Your way of driving reflects the condition of your car. If you’re hard on your car and have a habit of quickly pulling away from standstill, quick braking, sharp quick turns, riding over bumps at high speeds, hard changing of gears etc. then your car will wear faster and there can be damage. When you drive smartly and safely, there’s not only less wear and tear on your car but you also can save on fuel costs.
