Nigeria🇳🇬 recorded a record $947 million in formal remittances in July 2026, just $53 million short of the CBN’s $1 billion monthly target. Between January and July, formal remittances reached about $3.8 billion, up 50.2% from the same period in 2025.

The United States🇺🇸 court filings reportedly show that an FBI search for records concerning Nigeria🇳🇬 President Bola Tinubu produced 399 pages linked to a 1990s drugs investigation. The records reportedly include drug tests, controlled purchases, grand-jury activity and financial seizure documents.

Tinubu’s lawyers have filed a 16-page motion seeking to block their release, citing privacy rights. However, the documents have not been fully released, and their existence does not prove that Tinubu trafficked drugs or committed a crime.

South Africa🇿🇦 welcomed 991,696 overnight international tourists in July 2026, up 12.5% from July 2025 — almost 1 MILLION visitors in one month. Indian🇮🇳 arrivals fell 26.9%, while 🇨🇳 Chinese arrivals dropped by about 20%.

Overall, South Africa recorded 6.58 million international tourists from January to July, with African arrivals driving much of the growth.
