Let's visit France!

The Alliance Française of PE is glad to share with you famous and beautiful places of France !

📸La Corse!

La Corse is an island in the Mediterannean sea and a region of France. The region is a big regional identity and was shaped during its history and it’s a géographicall situation between France, and Italy: the island is 13 km to the North from the Sardinia Coast, 183km from the french Azur Coast and 83 at the Ouest of the Italian Toscane. Furthermore, the region has been independent for a short period.

La Corse is named “Isle of Beauty ” for its incredible countryside: coast, natural reserves, and mountains, and for the old village that characterizes the island. The main cities of the island are Bastia and Ajaccio. Ajaccio is the city where Napoleon was born.

All around the coast, it’s usual to see stone tower remains of the Genoese past and testimonials that had the Corse island in the Mediterranean Sea. On the South of the Island, you can discover Bonifacio. A little village impressed by its position culminating in a cliff.

The Louvre △ is a marvel to behold:

The Louvre, also called the Great Louvre or French Musée du Louvre is a national museum in Paris. It was originally built by King Philippe Auguste in the 12th century as a fortress to protect the city of Paris from invasion during the Crusades. As one of the largest, oldest, and grandest museums in the world, the Louvre hosts a treasure trove of artworks spanning diverse cultures and periods of history. Marvel at the museum’s greatest hits: the Mona Lisa 💆, the Venus de Milo, Winged Victory, and stunning collections of prized paintings and Greek and Roman statues. Home to more than 35,000 exhibits in its centuries-old building, the museum attracts millions of visitors from all over the world every year.

Bretagne 🛥️

Brittany is a peninsula that extends westwards into the Atlantic Ocean, with the Bay of Biscay to the south-west and the English Channel to the north. Its 2,700 kilometres of coastline dotted with sandy beaches, cliffs and isolated islands are an excellent reason to visit.

The oceanic taste of oysters, the succulence of fresh scallops, the crunch of kouign-amann, a heavenly crêpe with salted butter caramel, a bowl of sparkling cider, ripe strawberries from Plougastel, a strong buckwheat whisky😋 These are just some of the flavours of Brittany!

Brittany is all about escapism, walking, gourmet delights, dreams and discovery. On the footpaths, on the beach or in the cobbled streets, breathe in the sea air and let yourself go: that's Brittany!

Notre dame de Paris 🕍

Notre Dame de Paris (Meaning 'Our Lady of Paris' in French) is a Gothic cathedral in the fourth arrondissement of Paris, France. Construction of Notre-Dame de Paris began in the 12th century but was not completed until 300 years later. Notre-Dame cathedral consists of a choir and aspe, a short transept and a nave flanked by double aisles and square chapels 💒.

Today, it is one of the most important cathedrals in France and one of the oldest. Although it is mainly in the French Gothic style, some parts bear witness to the Renaissance and Naturalism periods. These different styles add to the exceptional and eccentric beauty of the building.

Today, we celebrate the richness of the French language with Archibald through a Quebec expression 🇲🇶

"Se lâcher lousse" means give free rein to your impulses, celebrate or party! 🎉
The word "lâcher" comes from the Latin laxare "to relax", from which "laxatif", "laxiste" or "relax" in French are also derived. The word lousse comes from the English word loose in the sense of not being tied down and giving oneself total freedom, knowing no limits. This gave rise to the expression "lâcher lousse" (to let go) to express the idea of doing what one wants to do in complete freedom!
