Exciting News from New Hope Academy!
As part of our ongoing journey to introduce Skills Classes to our Senior learners, we had a deliciously fun session today—making pancakes!

At New Hope Academy, learning goes beyond the classroom — and this past week was proof of that!
Our Senior Phase learners took a journey to Howick, where they visited the iconic Mandela Capture Site. Standing where history was made, they engaged deeply with South Africa’s legacy of struggle, courage, and freedom. The sculpture and museum sparked thoughtful conversations and left a lasting impression on all who attended.
Meanwhile, our Foundation Phase learners had their own magical adventure at the Hillcrest Animal Farm. From feeding friendly animals to enjoying the playground and tractor rides, the day was filled with joy, laughter, and hands-on learning about nature and kindness.
We’re so proud to give our learners these experiences — where education meets inspiration and fun!

Happy Mother's Day❤

What a splash-tastic day!
Yesterday, our Early Intervention Centre had an unforgettable excursion to Mountain View! The little ones had an absolute blast — from giggles on the water slides to joyful splashes in the pool. Add in a variety of fun activities, and it was a day full of smiles, laughter, and precious memories. Thank you to everyone who made it so special!

Today, New Hope Academy painted the school—and parts of Pietermaritzburg—bright and colourful as we wrapped up Autism Awareness Month!
Our passionate staff spent the afternoon at Woodburn Mall, proudly raising awareness and sharing knowledge about autism with the public. Meanwhile, our little stars in ECD had a blast baking and decorating cupcakes in all sorts of vibrant colours—celebrating the beauty of diversity and inclusion.
Together, we continue to advocate, educate, and spread love for a more inclusive world!

Today, our learners had a fantastic time celebrating Arbor Day—a special day dedicated to trees, nature, and the environment.
From getting their hands a little dirty to learning about the importance of trees in our world, it was a day full of fun and connection with nature. The joy on their faces as they nurtured the earth was truly inspiring!

In celebration of Autism Awareness Month, today parents and visitors showed their incredible support by getting their hands messy with colorful paint and leaving handprints to honor children with autism. This meaningful activity symbolizes unity and understanding. Throughout the week, everyone is invited to continue showing their support by adding their handprints to the table or cloth placed at the entrance of the school. Let’s keep spreading awareness and support for our amazing children!

On this World Autism Day, we stand in solidarity with the millions of learners with autism. Today is a reminder that every person, regardless of their neurological makeup, has a unique story, a distinct voice, and a world of potential. Let us embrace and celebrate neurodiversity, understanding that every learner’s journey is valuable and worthy of respect. Let’s continue to break barriers, shatter stigmas, and build a future where acceptance and kindness are the foundation of our society.

Today, our school observed both World Down Syndrome Day and Human Rights Day, celebrating the uniqueness and abilities of individuals with Down syndrome. It's a reminder that every person deserves respect, acceptance, and the right to live a life full of opportunities. Let's continue to support and empower all our children, creating an environment of inclusivity and love.
Not only did the learners dress to impress for Friendship Day, but they also showcased their incredible creativity with some amazing artwork! 🎨 These activities are part of our daily programs designed to improve hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

While the world celebrates Valentine's Day, our school chose to honor the beautiful bonds of friendship. The learners had an incredible time engaging in fun activities, laughter, and creating memories with their friends. It was a day full of joy and togetherness!
