I went camping with family this past week to celebrate my fiancés birthday.
We arrived at the popular campsite directly after the easter weekend that allows carp and bass fishing catch and release.
I obviously took my fly rod with and opted to go with my 7foot 5wt which is going to be my go to rod for the next while.

The fish must have been under a lot of pressure form all the easter weekend campers. I put some of my favorite zonker patterns in front of their faces with no reaction, some of them had a curious bite, but spat it out faster than the speed of light.

I swapped over to my favorite fly pattern that should have been the first fly on the end of my tippet, a Game Changer 👌

I only had 2 Game Changers in my fly box as they are always selling out. One yellow synthetic micro changer (the one in my hand) and one small yellow and orange Calf tail changer (color design by my fiancé).

The carp loved the micro changer and the bass loved the calf changer. I found that the movement of the game changers triggers the fish to aggressively tail the fly. I can just imagine how it would have been if these fish weren’t under such immense pressure.

It once again showed me how versatile these flies really are when tied correctly. I’m definitely going to be adding a lot more Game Changers to my fly box.

I will post some footage I managed to get of fish in the next few posts to come on instagram, with a little bit on how I fished the flies.
