Dit is vir my hartseer om aan te kondig dat my 'journey' met Mind Moves eindig einde Feb 2024.
Dit is met opwinding wat ek wag om te sien wat die Here vir my beplan vir 2024.

Ek gaan hierdie 'Page' toe maak einde Feb en nooi ek dus almal uit om my Page Almond Tree Learning Centre te volg indien julle nogsteeds belangstel in leerderondersteuning, lees en leerblokkasies en nuwe dinge saam met my wil ontdek hierdie jaar.

Last night we learned about The Neuroscience of Learning at Country House School. I think I proved to the only male teacher present that men also have a sixth sense 🤸🏼

Learning about The Neuroscience of Learning at Brebner High School in Bloemfontein. Today was our first workshop and the teachers experienced first hand what’s learning like for others (especially how it can feel in the classroom) 🤸🏼

Die lieflike onderwysers by Curro Mossel Bay Independent School het verlede week geleer oor die invloed van dominansie in die klaskamer en leer blokkasies by ons onlangse 5-in-1 Mind Moves kern werkswinkels.

Dit was so lekker om julle te ontmoet en te leer ken, ek wou nie hê dit moet stop nie en het gesukkel om na die tyd totsiens te sê nie.

Vanoggend het ek hierdie oulike ding ontmoet. Terwyl ons (ek en die ouers) gesels oor die brein en binne sintuie bou hy lego’s. En na die gewone strukture wat seuntjies maar bou begin hy die patroon self uitwerk en bou. Die opgewondenheid en trots na die tyd was priceless.

Curro Mossel Bay Independent School

Hierdie week het onderwysers van Curro Primêre Skool en die kleuterskool begin met hul Mind Moves 5-in-1 Kern werkswinkels. Ons het al lekker gelag, baie gepraat (bespreek 🙃) en baie geleer. Hier is Juf Chemecia, Juf Michell, Juf Prudence, Juf Irma en Juf Azelle besig om LEER te ervaar (en te proe 😉😂).

This is really interesting.

Along with the 5 traditional senses, our vestibular and proprioceptive centers provide an enormous amount of sensory input into the brain to provide a clear picture of what’s happening both internally and externally.

In sensory processing issues, such that occur in developmental delays and brain injuries, the brain has a very difficult time processing all the information coming in from the different senses.

It is easiest to think of this like a big traffic jam occurring in the brain. All of these signals are coming in but not properly being filtered, so the brain gets all jammed up. When the brain can not make sense of incoming information, it has a difficult time creating the proper motor or output response.

What this may translate to regarding a person’s symptoms include:

➡️Temper tantrums or dramatic mood swings

➡️Having a very high or very low pain threshold

➡️Clumsiness such as tripping over their feet or bumping into walls and

➡️Hypersensitivity just to name a few.

One major way to resolve this is to begin working on sensory integration exercises in the form of primitive reflex remediation exercises, vagus nerve stimulation and multiple sensory stimulus (co-activation).

The brain is a big sensory sponge and it relies on proper sensory input but can become overwhelmed when injured or delayed.

Movement is medicine

How Movement in the Classroom Helps Kids Focus Allowing students more movement – both in the classroom and at home – is a win-win for teachers, parents, and kids alike.

Whatever you are working towards, keep working!

Repetitive practice builds plasticity.

You can get better at anything if you are consistent!

The Mind Moves Institute and Curro Schools have a long standing relationship. I spent a wonderful afternoon (yesterday) with Curro Mosselbay's Foundation Phase teachers. Just connecting and having a girls coffee date (and red party cold drink). We also had a Q&A....they Q and I answered 🙃
