WHY WE CALL IT “DATA TO PROFIT” — NOT “DATA TO GROWTH”
Growth sounds good.
More customers.
More sales.
More staff.
More branches.
But growth does not always mean the business is getting stronger.
You can grow revenue and still:
- make less profit;
- run out of cash;
- take on the wrong customers;
- underprice your work;
- increase costs faster than sales.
That is why at Inzuzo Analytics, we talk about Data to Profit.
Because the goal is not just to help you grow.
The goal is to help you use your numbers to make better decisions that improve:
- Pricing
- Margins
- Cash flow
- Customer profitability
- Resource use
Growth is valuable when it creates more profit and a stronger business.
So the question is not only:
“Are we growing?”
It is:
“Is our growth actually making us more profitable?”
That is what Data to Profit is about.
At Inzuzo Analytics, we help business owners turn everyday business data into decisions that improve profitability.

YOUR CASH FLOW STATEMENT TELLS A FUNDER MORE THAN YOU THINK.
A business owner may look at cash flow and ask:
“Do I have enough money in the bank?”
A funder looks at the same statement and asks:
“Can this business generate enough cash, consistently, to repay us?”
That is a very different question.
When a funder looks at your cash flow, they are paying attention to things like:
- Is cash coming in consistently?
- Are customers paying on time?
- Is the business constantly short of cash?
- Are operating costs growing faster than income?
- Is too much money tied up in stock or debtors?
- Can the business comfortably handle another monthly repayment?
- Does the business depend on one large payment to survive each month?
A profitable business can still struggle to get funding if the cash flow tells a different story.
For example:
Profit looks good.
But customers pay after 90 days.
Sales are growing.
But every new contract needs more working capital.
Revenue is strong.
But existing debt repayments already take most of the monthly cash available.
That is why funding readiness is not only about having financial statements.
It is about understanding what your numbers are saying from a funder’s point of view.
At Inzuzo Analytics, we help business owners read their cash flow the way a lender would — and identify what may need to change before the funding application goes in.

MINING SERVICES BUSINESS: YOU WON THE CONTRACT — BUT CAN YOU AFFORD TO DELIVER IT?
Winning work from a mine is exciting.
But before you get paid, you may already need money for:
- Wages
- Fuel
- PPE
- Equipment
- Transport
- Accommodation
- Chemicals or materials
That is where many good businesses get stuck.
The issue is not always a lack of profit.
Sometimes the business simply needs enough working capital to carry the contract until the customer pays.
So instead of saying:
“I need R3 million.”
A stronger funding request:
“I have a signed contract. I need R3 million to cover the first 60 days of wages, equipment and operating costs. The contract is expected to generate R8 million in revenue.”
That gives the funder a much clearer picture.
Before applying for funding, know:
- How much you really need
- What the money will be used for
- When the customer will pay
- How the funding will be repaid
At Inzuzo Analytics, we help mining services businesses work out their funding needs, prepare cash-flow forecasts and build a clearer case for lenders or investors.

TURNED DOWN FOR FUNDING ONCE? DON’T JUST REAPPLY WITH THE SAME INFORMATION.
A declined application is not always the end of the road.
But before you apply again, something usually needs to change.
Common issues include:
- Cash flow is too tight
- Existing debt is already high
- Financial records are incomplete or outdated
- The funding amount is not clearly justified
- The business relies too heavily on one customer
- The repayment plan is not convincing
- The use of funds is too vague
- The business is growing, but the numbers don’t yet support the request
The important question is not:
“Which funder should I try next?”
It is:
“What made the first application look risky?”
Before reapplying, strengthen the weak areas.
That could mean:
Improving your cash-flow forecast
Reducing debt pressure
Showing stronger management accounts
Clarifying exactly how the funding will be used
Applying for a more realistic amount
Building a clearer repayment story
A second application should not just be a repeat.
It should be a stronger business case.
At Inzuzo Analytics, we help SMMEs understand what may be weakening their funding application and what needs to improve before they approach the next funder.

WHICH CUSTOMER ACTUALLY MAKES YOU THE MOST MONEY?
It’s probably not the one with the biggest invoice.
A customer can look valuable because they bring in a lot of revenue — but once you include:
- Labour
- Travel
- Materials
- Discounts
- Rework
- Admin time
- Late payments
- Extra attention from the owner
…the profit can look very different.
For example:
Customer A brings in R30,000 a month
but needs constant call-outs, extra staff and pays late.
Customer B brings in R18,000 a month
pays on time, is easy to service and requires fewer resources.
Customer B may actually be the better customer.
That is why business owners should not only ask:
“Who spends the most with us?”
Ask:
“Who leaves us with the most profit after we serve them?”
Once you know that, you can make better decisions about:
- Which customers to keep
- Which ones to reprice
- Which ones to grow
- Which ones may no longer be worth serving
More revenue is good. Better revenue is better.
At **Inzuzo Analytics**, we help businesses understand which customers are really contributing to profit — and which are quietly draining it

MORE CLIENTS DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN MORE PROFIT.
It sounds logical:
More clients = more sales = more profit.
But in many SMMEs, that’s not what happens.
More clients can also mean:
- More staff
- More overtime
- More transport
- More stock
- More admin
- More pressure on cash flow
- More discounts
- More low-margin work
You can grow revenue and still make less money.
The better question is not:
“How do we get more clients?”
It is:
“Which clients are actually worth having?”
A good client should contribute to profit, pay on time, fit your capacity and not create unnecessary cost to serve.
Sometimes the fastest way to improve profit is not to add 20 new clients.
It is to understand the 20 you already have.
Which ones make money?
Which ones drain resources?
Which ones pay late?
Which ones should be repriced?
Growth should make the business stronger — not just busier.
At Inzuzo Analytics, we help business owners understand customer profitability, pricing and margins so they can grow with better clients, not just more clients.

FEELING OVERWHELMED BY YOUR BUSINESS? YOU MAY NOT NEED MORE INFORMATION — YOU NEED BETTER DECISION SUPPORT
Many business owners are drowning in numbers, reports, WhatsApps, customer issues, staff problems and cash-flow pressure.
The problem is not always a lack of data.
It is not knowing:
- What matters most?
- What needs attention now?
- Which decision will have the biggest impact?
That is where a good decision-support system helps.
It gives you a simple view of the key areas in your business:
- Sales
- Cash flow
- Profitability
- Customer performance
- Costs
- Debtors
- Operational issues
- Key risks
Instead of reacting to everything, you can focus on the few things that actually need a decision.
For example:
Sales are up — but cash is down.
You know to investigate collections and working capital.
Revenue is growing — but margin is falling.
You know to look at pricing and cost-to-serve.
One customer is driving most of your income.
You know there is concentration risk.
A decision-support system should help you move from:
“I feel like something is wrong.”
to:
“I know what the issue is, what caused it, and what I need to do next.”
At Inzuzo Analytics, we help business owners turn financial and operational information into simple, practical decision support.

WHAT FUNDERS ACTUALLY READ FIRST IN A FUNDING PACK — AND IT’S NOT YOUR PITCH DECK
A beautiful pitch deck can get attention.
But it rarely answers the first question a funder is trying to solve:
“Can this business repay us — or give us a credible return?”
So what do funders usually look at first?
Often, it’s the numbers behind the story:
- Recent financial statements or management accounts
- Bank statements
- Cash-flow performance
- Existing debt obligations
- Revenue trends
- Profit margins
- Customer concentration
- Tax and compliance status
- The exact amount you are asking for
- What the funding will be used for
Only then does the pitch deck become useful.
Because a pitch deck tells the story.
The financial pack tells them whether the story is believable.
A business asking for R3 million should be able to explain:
Why R3 million?
What will it be used for?
What additional revenue or capacity will it unlock?
How will the funder get their money back?
That is why funding readiness is not about making documents look impressive.
It is about making the business easy to understand and easier to assess.
At Inzuzo Analytics, we help SMMEs prepare the financial story behind the funding request — before they approach lenders or investors.
