There were a few structural alterations- removing a scullery wall to open up the Kitchen, opening one of the bedrooms to incorporate a dressing area where a long narrow bathroom was etc. We stripped the house: Bathrooms and Kitchen were redesigned and fitted, new floors, new lighting, new wall finishes including clever wall strips to mimic traditional panelling was installed. Throughout this process we had huge respect for the age and era of this old lady, and were careful not to strip the house of it's essential character...we left in skew walls and ceiling boards that are 116 years old...panes of glass that have been in the original doors since 1906.
Then the final layer came in and the house was decorated carefully alongside the fabulous Posh Interiors- again aware always to keep within budget.
The end result, we think, is just right. There is a wonderful sense of calm which envelops you as you enter...and we knew that when the client burst into happy tears (we did too!!!), on seeing the final result, that we had met their expectations.
