A small school with a big heart.

We have a great deal to celebrate, besides our 45 years in education this year.

I am blessed and privileged to work at this beautiful school. We have a great team of educators who go the extra mile for the children they teach.

I am so proud of the staff, parents, children and governing body for the way in which we have navigated the challenges and opportunities that Covid has brought about.

We have managed to continue the full time schooling for our beautiful children (even with the Covid disruptions). Our aim has been to try and keep their routine as normal as possible.

We have added extra input during the school day by doing more drama and music related work to strengthen Language and Maths skills.

We are hard at work preparing for our concert. The production is planned near the start of next term.

Mrs Mello has been working on various aspects of the performance since the beginning of the year. Our children are excited to be part of this experience.

We have adapted our Physical Education Programme to ensure children still have the opportunity to develop important motor skills that help them internalise crucial Language, Maths and Life Skills.

We have planned appropriate STEAM activities and outings to add value to what has been done in the classroom.

After years of painstaking fundraising and planning we have been able to supplement our teaching resources this year. These have included reading books, educational games, maths, science and geography equipment, other audio-visual aids and manipulatives that cater for different learning styles and experiences from Pre-school to Grade 7.

We embarked on our Google Education staff training last year. Most of the behind the scenes preparation has been done. We cannot wait to have our children continue their blended learning journey since the acquisition of a bank of Chromebooks.

Looking back and honouring the past...

Without the vison of the group of Knysna parents who started Stepping Stones Pre-Primary in 1976, we would not be able to celebrate all these accomplishments.

To all the past and present children, staff, parents, governing bodies and special friends of both Riverwood Primary and Stepping Stones Pre-Primary School, we honour your collective positive contributions to our growth over the years.

The Grade Rs harvested some of the vegetables from their vegetable garden to add the the school's collection of ingredients to gift to a local soup kitchen. This was for Madiba Day.

The Grade Rs have also been busy following the Olympic Games. They had their own version of the Olympics. Look at the beautiful medals they designed.

Congratulations to Sinoyolo, Andrew and Cayden who celebrate a decade at our school.

They spent three years at our Stepping Stones Pre- Primary and then continued from Grade 1 to Grade 7 at our Riverwood Primary School. All on the same campus.

The Grade 4s you see with the calculators are enjoying the bonds and tables competitions they can programme into the device. They can compete against themselves or against their friends. A fun way to acquire these quick recall skills.

Our Grade 7s are making the important transitions in preparation for the start of their High School years. We wish them all the best for the last two terms of their Primary School career.
