It’s almost 🥶 winter in the Eastern Cape and we have less time to enjoy the outdoors ⛅️ With these quick 💫and easy FRESH air exercises, you may be able to work up a sweat in just 15 minutes. Just be sure to wear sunscreen, drink plenty of water and enjoy the new FRESH FIT meals 🥘
Park Bench Dip (3 min)
To get the benefits of the classic dip exercise without the gym, try this variation that makes use of a sturdy picnic table bench. You’ll be working your core muscles, as well as your shoulders and triceps:
Begin seated on an immovable bench, hands placed palms down on the bench near your hips.
Move your body off of the bench, positioning your torso in front of it and keeping your lower back near the bench. Your hands and arms will be supporting most of the weight of your upper body.
Create a dipping motion by bending your elbows.
Aim for 3 sets of 12-15 dips. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.
Hill Grapevine (5 minutes)
Now it’s time for some cardio! Start at the bottom of a large grassy hill. You’re going to jog up it, “grapevine” style. Run to the left, putting your left leg to the far left as you run. Then do the same with your right leg, placing it behind your left leg as you move upward.
Swing your hips from side to side as you go to create the proper motion. Alternate legs for 30 seconds or until you reach the top of the hill, going faster as you climb. Then run back down the hill in the same grapevine motion. Repeat 5 times.
Bench Hops (4 minutes)
Let’s bring it back down with another bench exercise—this one will strengthen your quadriceps and glute muscles:
Go back to the bench where you did your dips earlier.
Start in a seated position, and then jump up off the bench as high as possible, reaching up to the sky with your arms.
Complete the rep by sitting back down. Repeat as many times as you can for 1 minute. Repeat 3 x, resting for 30 seconds between the first and second sets.
