Africa Week Message from Justice Moses Chinhengo
Chairperson - Africa Judges and Jurists Forum:

The Africa Jurists Forum fully supports the African Union in its vision of silencing guns in Africa by 2020.

If we fight against impunity and entrench the rule of law and accountable governance, there is no doubt that Africa will develop.
In Ondo State, Nigeria, an Islamic cleric was on Friday, May 22, ordered by a court to return a 16-year-old girl to her parents after he forced her into marrying him as his 9th wife. In 2019 the parents of the 15-year-old secondary school student allowed Al-haji Lateef to marry their daughter. The girl protested but was threatened by her parents. On the marriage day, she fled home, and reported the matter to a government office where she found shelter and legal aid.
