🌾 End of January check-in 🌾
If the year already feels full, fast, or a little overwhelming — you’re not behind.
On the farm, we don’t panic if the first few weeks don’t go exactly to plan. We pause, assess the soil, adjust the approach, and keep going. 🌱
As January draws to a close, take a moment to:
✨ Check in with yourself
✨ Re-focus your energy
✨ Adjust your goals if needed
Progress isn’t about perfection — it’s about staying rooted and moving forward, one step at a time.
You’ve got this. 🌿

🇺🇸✨ Future Farmers Success Story: Paballo Has Landed in the USA! ✨🐷
After completing his apprenticeship at a piggery here in South Africa, Paballo has officially arrived in the United States to begin his one-year agricultural internship — and he’s already taking it all in with excitement and gratitude! 🌍🚀
Here’s what he shared with us so far:
“Orientation was amazing and exciting. I’ve already made two friends in the Ohio program, Alexis and Miguel. We toured Ohio State University, and the experience and culture are truly breathtaking. I'm in quarantine for a few days before starting my pig training — it’s just a precaution. I’m settled in a hotel now and getting ready for the next step.”
We are incredibly proud of Paballo and can’t wait to see how he grows during this life-changing opportunity. 🌱💼
From local apprenticeship to global experience — this is what Future Farmers is all about.

🎓 On an extremely windy Friday, Future Farmers was invited to join Weston Agricultural College at the Irritech Agencies International open day in Mooi River 🚜 35 rather wind-blown young men in Grade 10 were introduced to pumps, pivots and irrigation schemes used in commercial farming and learned a bit more about what their futures will entail if they follow the path towards farm management. 🌱
We were grateful to have a chance to introduce Future Farmers to the boys, as school leavers are a group of beneficiaries that we aim to help! 💪 It's not easy breaking into farm apprenticeships when leaving school, and with our network of agri-partners we work to make that happen. We're looking forward to collaborating more with both Weston and Irritech in 2026 🤝
🌟 Meet Dini Mgcalabana! 🌟
Dini is 25 years old and comes from Durban 🌊 . He is a TVET student who was placed at the African Co-Operative Action trust in Lidgetton. Dini has since moved on to experience another farm, but at the time was finding great satisfaction in growing vegetables 🥬 and learning about irrigation 🚰 , while tending to sheep 🐑 and cattle 🐄 .
Like Dini says, when starting an apprenticeship - go in with a respectful attitude and a mindset that learning 💡 is the main goal, and you will get the most benefit possible for your career development 💪
