Our sports fields were buzzing with activity on Friday when Cordwall, Kammaland, Greytown Primary, Domino Servite, Indlovana and Tholinhlanhla Primary participated in the Sports Foundations' Interprimay School Athletics Day.
We would like to thank Mr Dladla of Cordwall for organizing the day and Mrs Gevers for handing out the winning trophy.
There was good competition between schools and the children thoroughly enjoyed the athletics.

Our Grade 11 Hospitality Class have been busy with practicals making yummy butternut soup and delicious stir fry with risotto rice - See some of their excellent results

The Co-Ed Athletics Meeting in Hermannsburg on Saturday was held with strong competition between schools (Hermansburg, Voortrekker, Wartburg, Treverton, Grace, and Greytown High) and we congratulate Voortrekker for winning on the day with Greytown High coming second.
Greytown performed well at all levels and our athletes gave of their best. Congratulations to Nkazimulo Mzolo for winning Best Field Athlete and Siyamthanda Shange for U14 Victor.

Dear Parent, please take note that Umvoti Municipality is running a Debt Amnesty Campaign from 1st August until 31 October 2022.
We thank Mr S. Mdlalose, Mr S.Khumalo and Cllr. Theresa Edwards of Umvoti Municipality who visited our school to explain the Campaign.
We were happy to meet triplets, Busile Angel, Sukoluhle and Wenzile Maphumulo - they are ready to start Grade 8 at Greytown High in 2023.
Exciting soccer matches were played against Weston on Tuesday. The boys defended well and played with determination right to the end. The first team had a convincing win, beating Weston 5 - 0. 2nd Team 3 -1 win. U15 drew 1 -1 and U14 drew 4 -4.

Greytown High School Staff and Governing Body had a chance to relax at the Belt and Elephant last week with a braai and get together as part of Happiness Week.
Some fun and colorful slippers were worn on slipper day last week.
As part of Happiness Week learners and staff could wear slippers to school and donate R5 towards charity.
Greytown High is pleased to once again partner with Stephan Homberg of Bad Harzburg as part of the EWSA exchange program designed for youths wishing to broaden their understanding of development policy. The program is aimed at schools from Germany that want to establish a new partnership with schools from countries in South Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Southeast. The initiation phase of the program begins in 2023 when two learners and one teacher have a great opportunity when the two schools visit each other, and after that each school will travel every second year. Three online conferences will take place each year and the learners will do a project together.
Well done to Mpilwenhle Ndawende and Amile Nxumalo who were invited to attend the final round of soccer trials to be held on Saturday, 13th August 2022 at Howick High.

Shot put, sprints, relays and long jump were covered with the focus on developing skills, competence, techniques. We would like to thank Mr Nel and those sports coaches who helped today and we look forward to the Inter-primary athletics day to be held on the 26th of August.

As part of our happiness week we are collecting tin food. The current standings are shown in the photo’s below. The last day for collections is next Friday, so we ask all Greytown High families to contribute next week. All food will be given to Letcee, Umvoti AIDS Center, Khayalami childrens village and Gods will Ministries.

This week we celebrate "Happiness Week" to recognize happiness and privilege in our lives.
We would like to remind parents and learners to donate canned food for local charities as well as dog or cat food for the SPCA.
On Friday, and in solidarity with those less fortunate, learners are encouraged to come to school barefoot. Slippers can be worn for a donation of R5 to charity.

Good luck to those players going to soccer trials in Hilton today.
Last week the girls' 1st and 2nd soccer teams played some tough matches against St Annes at home. Although Greytown did not manage to beat their opponents valuable experience was gained which augers well for the season ahead.
On Friday the annual interhouse athletics meeting was held and once again provided excitement and quality athletics.
Each athlete gave of their best with keen competition between the houses for the winning trophy. As always the relay events proved to be the highlight of the day with fierce competition between the competitors battling it out for first position edged on by cheering supporters.
The results of the day were as follows: Melville 408, Botha 330, Nel 324 and Grey 222. The spirit that prevailed was wonderful with Botha winning the Spirit Cup.

The day was a great success and thanks go to all involved for a very well organized event.
Shooting was re-introduced as an extra-curricular activity this Term and this week a group of eager learners participated in a shooting practice at school.
For many years Greytown High's shooting teams have produced excellent results winning the "Grand Challenge Shield" on a number of occasions. We are positive Greytown High will maintain these excellent results.
Grade 8 Applications 2023
Thank you to all who applied for Grade 8 in 2023.
We are full for 2023 and will not be accepting any further applications for next year.
It is very encouraging that we have 40 learners in the boarding houses for next year and a strong group of learners for the Matric class of 2027.
Applications for 2024 will open from the 1st of March until the 1st of June 2023.
This week we announced the top ten academic learners in each grade. Well done to those learners who achieved good results in term 2. Keep up the hard work.
The Matric class of 2022 were very excited to recently receive their white jackets that they can wear to school with pride, and thereby continue a proud tradition of Greytown High.
