Had Dinner on Friday evening, an amazing experience. We all had the pork belly - WOW, best pork belly ever. Great wine selection. Will definately be back.
Ons familie het in April 2016 'n heerlike aandete hier genuttig. Dit was 'n heerlike ondervinding en die personeel was uiters vriendelik en professioneel. Ek het 'n heerlike Pork Belly bestel wat perfek gaargemaak was.
Mosselbaai – ʼn Gesin van 5 (2 volwassenes & 1 tiener dogter & 2 tiener seuns) benodig enige kos skenkings.

Blue Cheese and Garlic Snails Vol-au-Vent

A typical and nostalgic restaurant menu item that we can remember since the 1980s is snails in garlic butter. We are sure that most people can either remember seeing it on menus or ordering it at some point - it is such a classic. Transkaroo's version has been on the menu for more than ten years, which is pure evidence of its popularity.

As always, Transkaroo's take on the classic garlic butter snails has a slight twist. Vol-au-vent is a french term that describes a puff pastry pocket filled with a savoury filling and richly flavoured sauce. In this case, it is a snail topped with a rich and creamy blue cheese and garlic sauce. A portion consists of 5 filled pastry pockets to make it great for sharing if everyone wants a little tastebud teaser before the main meal. You can't go wrong with these delicious morsels. The only thing you may regret is not ordering more!

Firecracker Prawns...
Seafood lovers, listen up! This delicious starter is for you. Perfect for sharing if you want a small nibble before your mains or enjoy a plate by yourself (nobody is judging, we promise).
We use wild-caught Argentinian prawns as they are sweet, buttery, and succulent in flavour.
These delicious prawns are marinated in Asian-style chilli oil and wrapped and deep-fried in spring roll pastry. Chilli oil and a herb-infused sauce accompany the dish for dipping.
The name refers to the presentation and taste as they look like little firecrackers and have a little bit of spiciness that represents an explosion of flavour in your mouth.

We make every detail of this dessert from scratch in our kitchen.

Happy Father's Day to all the old, new, and soon-to-be fathers!
If you are joining us for lunch today, why not try our Beef Bourgoinoise which pairs beautifully with both of our wines of the month.

Currently in the spotlight is Strandveld's First Sighting Shiraz 2019. Although grown in a cool climate area, this wine shows significantly more fruit notes than the Syrah. A combination of red and black berry fruit gives this wine a very fruit-forward expression, as intended for a typical 'Shiraz' style wine.

We can truly appreciate the art in winemaking as Strandveld has proven by producing two very different outcomes from the same type of grapes.

As Executive Head Chef, Nicolette is predominantly responsible for the delicious cuisine that makes its way from the kitchen to the table, and Senior Sous Chef, Ilze Denner, works closely alongside Nicolette. Together they produce memorable flavours and presentation of Transkaroo’s dishes.

Nestled between an old railway and a quiet lagoon in the tranquil town of Great Brak River on the Garden Route, Transkaroo was once an old railway station but since converted into an award winning restaurant, popular among locals and visitors from all over the world, offering the best traditional South African, home-style cuisine with a fine-dining twist. A unique dining experience that definitely won't leave you feeling hungry (or thirsty).

Adding to the unique Transkaroo experience, is the visual wine collection. Instead of a traditional wine menu, you can physically pick up and view each bottle from the entire collection. Each wine has been hand selected by Nicolette and Johan who regularly visit the wine farms to make new selections as additions to the collection. There is something available for every level and every taste - from the beginner wine-drinker to the wine connoisseur. From rare high end to more modest wines, but undoubtedly always the best wine quality and taste experience. Servers are trained to guide you in selecting a suitable wine to pair with your meal. The Transkaroo Private Collection is also available for the connoisseur with a discerning palette.
