AVAILABLE ARTWORK FROM ARTIST - TINUS DE JONGH
.
.
.
.
(31 January 1885, Amsterdam – 17 July 1942,Bloemfontein)
Tinus De Jongh was one of South Africa’s most popular painters.
Self-taught, he began his career as a decorator in the Netherlands, and then pursued painting full-time. He achieved some note when the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam purchased one of his early pictures. He arrived in South Africa in 1921, practicing a sober style within the Dutch tradition, typified there by Still Life with Birds and Hare. The light and landscape of South Africa soon caused him to abandon his muted palette in favour of more saturated colours. His formulaic approach to painting Cape landscapes with gabled farmhouses created such a demand that he abandoned his considered brushwork in favour of a broader palette knife technique. His etchings sold in the hundreds through his dealer Louis Woolf.
He died on 17 July 1942 from lung cancer.
Tinus was the father of Gabriel de Jongh, who in his turn became a famous painter of landscapes in South Africa.
The younger de Jongh died in 2004.

Barry Jackson Born in South Africa in 1949 and raised and educated in Zambia in Central Africa. Barry Jackson spent two years at the East London School of Art followed by a further year at the Johannesburg School of Art. His medium is bronze sculpture… His style is best described as representational. He has the professional support of some of the best art foundries in South Africa all situated in Cape Town and they provide the highest quality and most skilled work to be found anywhere. He began his career in advertising as an art director but soon went freelance as an advertising illustrator.
During this period he also did work for the philatelic services department of the GPO and designed and illustrated many sets of stamps and first-day covers including some award-winning sets for South Africa, Namibia and surrounding countries. His fine art career was developing simultaneously and soon the high demand for his sculptures required him to concentrate almost exclusively in that field. His works, of limited editions, are sought by collectors and art lovers globally who identify with conservation, wildlife, African ethnic themes and the vanishing cultures of Southern Africa.
He also enjoys portraiture and was commissioned to do the bust of Nelson Mandela which stands in front of the South African Parliament Building. He is regularly commissioned by the National Heritage Project to do life-size full figure portrait statues of historical figures. Among these are Mahatma Gandhi, Louis Van Mauritius, Johannes Van der Kemp. He was commissioned to do the life-size figure of Nelson Mandela which will be the lead figure in the Long Walk to Freedom at Heritage Park. This will be a procession of 400 to 500 bronze heritage figures commissioned to artists from all over South Africa. Barry’s work is renowned internationally and can be seen in boardrooms and reception areas of companies, private collections and game lodges throughout the world.

AVAILABLE ARTWORK FROM ARTIST - WILKO ROON
.
.
.
.
Wilko Roon draws his inspiration from his immediate surroundings, the people and especially the children are reflected in colours that are unique to his own style. He performed well at school and like his two older brothers, was a top art student. After school hours his interest was cycling and he performed exceptionally well in down-hill and cross country racing. In Grade 9, after a training session, a car crossed the road and caused a devastating accident. After 2 months in a coma, partially paralysed, with brain injuries, double vision, apraxia and bone fractures, Wilko started a long process of rehabilitation. Wilko renewed his interest in art and in 2003 moved to Paternoster and in 2006 started painting for the first time. A well-known artist, Jan Visser, influenced him hugely and combined with continuous encouragement and comments from his father, Wilko started to establish his own style. He has been exhibiting and selling his work since 2007.

MEET THE ARTIST - CARLA BOSCH
.
.
.
.
Carla’s life of color started on the 14th of January 1976 in Pretoria, South Africa. Spring’s flood of purple in this city could have inspired Carla’s bold use of color.
After finishing an Interior Design Diploma at the Tshwane University of Technology (1997), Carla’s love for painting took over. Hard work paid of as numerous prominent art galleries requested her work. Most of these top galleries remain loyal supporters to this day.
Painting is not Carla’s first love. She is madly in love with her husband Elroy and is a devoted mother to their two children, Sarah and Daniel. It’s from this loving environment that Carla’s work brings homeliness to any space.
The warmth and cheerfulness of her landscapes, boats and street themes are true to Carla’s vibrant personality and her giving nature is evident in the liberal use of bright acrylics and oils. She possesses a unique ability to create amazing scenes taking you to places where you’ve always wanted to be. From the glorious landscapes of Southern Africa to the street scenes of ancient Europe, all inspires Carla to share her impressions of beautiful places with you.
Carla has spent many hours studying the work of old masters and young artists alike. It is Carla’s desire to be an ever developing artist. She embraces every opportunity to interact and learn from other artists.
While Carla’s work finds its way all over the world, she and her family now reside in California, USA.

MEET THE ARTIST - BEA WOLFAARDT
.
.
.
.
Bea was born on 26 December 1941 in the Paarl. Her love for art and her talent was discovered and inspired at an early age, by her art teacher, the famous Dawid Botha. She graduated in Historic Art and taught at W.A. Joubert in the Paarl.
In 1966 she resided in Leeds, England for two years, where she fully experienced the European art history. It is also here where she fell in love with the warm bright colours of European art.
With the help of the head of department of fine art at the University of Durban – Westville, Professor Pierre Volschenk, she started painting with oil and water paints. During this phase she painted her own style in ethnic figures and strong colours. Her work is very similar to that of Maggie Laubscher.
Later on, her travelling to Europe influenced her work tremendously. French impressionism directed her work in a much more impressionistic direction.
Recognition was given to this artist when she was elected to do a range of works for a private collector in a suburb in Paris, France. This exposure led to regular commissions through South African Embassies and Children homes in Paris. Her work has also been sold in countries like, England, Switzerland, Belgium and France.
On local grounds her work can be viewed in leading galleries.

MEET THE ARTIST - ADRIAAN BOSHOFF.
.
.
.
Adriaan Boshoff was born in Pretoria in 1935 and passed away in 2007. He was a self-taught artist of landscapes, sea scapes, still life and figures. Adriaan Boshoff was known as the Renoir of South Africa. His light, impressionistic style was the gift of trying, not so much to capture light, as to stop time. As Boshoff said: “I want to capture fleeting moments before they disappear forever.” Adriaan did become South Africa’s foremost impressionist over the last 40 years.
If Boshoff could be said to have a trademark, it would be that singular ability to express the passing moment in such a wide variety of work. He backed this up with a technical ability that is first-rate and an understanding of colour and harmony that is, quite possibly, unique, at least in South Africa.
His work has been exhibited to acclaim around the world and is collected by enthusiasts from New York to Auckland. Like so many great artists, he did not work quickly – he often progressed laboriously to what the untrained eye may acclaim to be the perfect canvass only to tear it up and start again. He was his own, most austere critic.
