The Village Tree Marketplace, George Video February 18, 2019, 9:03am

Videos by The Village Tree Marketplace in George. Marketing under our tree has never been more fun! This market is for people with a zest for life, exploring and challenging their very next move.

IRENE ELLIS ART....tells her STORY of HEALING through Art I have always had this dream to put on paper through pencil and charcoal what I see with my eyes and feel when I look at something beautiful In Nov2017 I drew a wolf and realized that I can do this. I have tried before but because I did not deal with trauma from my youth I used to be very critical on myself and when I tried to draw... But last 10 years I have been working hard on healing, my faith, and speaking to myself the way God would lovingly speak to me. Now I can sit and create my art, believe that God works with me with each sketch to get the effect... He is the original artist after all who better than to learn from and to draw inspiration from, Since 2017 I have seen my skills develop and I am truly grateful to be able to create. My Logo is a Dandelion. I am inspired by this little plant, it has healing power, it grows in the most unlikely places and when we blow on its seeds we make a wish and this speaks to me about hope. And God commands us in Zechariah 9 to be prisoners of Hope. Hope is what got me through healing from trauma, overcome lupus and chronic pain, helps me be a mom, wife and manager Hope is life giving and I hope my art speaks of that Zechariah 9:12 New International Version (NIV) 12 Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.

THE VILLAGE TREE VENDOR OF THE WEEK
Our Vendor of the week! Mariet Smit – the woman behind the easle! I am blessed to live and work in Hartenbos as a part time physiotheapist & mother of 3 nearly grown children. My family is the greatest blessing to me, and I have a wonderful supportive husband. I stumbled into art when I was in High school and through the inspiration of a dedicated art teacher I started painting. Art always played a small roll in my life till 7 years ago when i started with art classes again. I started to paint regularly and was motivated by another wonderful teacher who inspired me to live my dream. Art is my passion and has always played a therapeutic roll in my life. I am inspired by simplicity and the beauty of people and their everyday lives, as well as nature around us. My prayer is that my art will be a blessing to others. May it make people celebrate life in it’s simplicity and give glory to God our creator!!

Changing life ONE BLOCK at a time It all started on a stoep on Andrieskraal farm 2010. We just opened the doors of SMITSWINKEL when I had this dream. "A big baby in my tummy kicking so hard to get out" I immediately knew this voice calling me to stand up and to set the captives free. The next morning I put my tekkies on and started to run. I stopped at every hut and told the girls there to be at Smitswinkel the next day if they wanted work. It was a complete action of faith. I wasn't sure where we are going with this, but I knew I had to be obedient. Two girls pitched up. One was a thirteen year old girl with a new born baby. The other a complete alcoholic. She rocked up already drunk at nine in the morning. I gave them each wool and needles to knit with and asked them to knit a block. And so it started! The blocks became face cloths, the too big face cloths turned to place mats, the too big place mats handbags, toilet roll covers, ....ending with blankets...ONE BLOCK AT A TIME. The two girls became 10, 20 30...we became a family, sharing life. Life's were turned upside down! Mine too. This is what THE VILLAGE TREE is all about...YOU changing a life one block at a time.
