A weekend of load shedding - 2020-01-31
GEORGE NEWS - Eskom has announced that load shedding stage 2 will continue over the weekend. George will be affected as follows:
Friday: 16:00 to 18:30

Saturday: 14:00 to 16:30 and

Sunday: 22:00 to 00:30

Update and feedback of Building project ( SCIS Masjidur Raghman)

BACKGROUND OF BUILDING PROJECT:

SCIS committee made a decision last year March 2017 after the Eat and Treat held in CT that we going to start this project to make the masjid self sustainable. We started off this project with the profits of the Eat and Treat. The project consisted of erecting four flats of witch the rental income will cover the monthly expenses of the masjied. As said previously we started last year March with this project with a buy a brick campaign and immediately after that donors arised and started contributing towards this project. We used from our community members and members of the Shurah as well as volunteers from as far as Cape Town with the necessary skills to start of this project to lower our cost. We are now at the stage where the electrical and plumbing are being done then we will move over to tiling and the fitting of ceilings, painting and all the other finishing work to complete this project.

We have roughly spent plus minus R600 000 and we still need R300 000 to complete the project.

We would like to thank all our donors, volunteers, community members and people as far as Cape Town for all they have done in contributing towards this project, Algamdulillaah.

If anyone still wants to contribute towards the finishing of this project, feel free to do so In Sha Allah.

As salaam Alaykum. Our annual AGM was held today and there was an overwhelming attendance of the community. Nabeel Sallie chaired the meeting. Opening Qiraa was done by Sheikh Mahad. Sheikh Saeed gave some advice to the attendees of the importance of serving the house of Allah. The Chairman, Sheikh Hassen Dair addressed the community where he thanked the Shurah for serving the house of Allah for the past 2 years. The secretary Dayyaan Parks gave a brief overview of the progress the shurah made over the last 2 years and Mogammad Patel gave an overview of the financial status of the Southern Cape Islamic Society. The new Shurah was then elected as follow: Chairman RASHID HOOSEN Vice Chairman IMRAAN JAJBAY Secretary ADNAN LANDERS Vice Secretary MUSTAFA RAHMAN Treasurer MOGAMMAD PATEL Vice Treasurer NABEEL SALLIE Co Op Members AMAANULLAH ABRAHAM'S, OULAT HOOSEIN , SHAHID KHAN. We ask Allah to guide and protect the Shurah in their task for the next 2 years In Sha Allah.

Asalamu alykum waragmatulahi wabarakatu.Please note that due to concerns raised by the community we have changed the venue for the Family day to Pine Creek in Greatbrak River where it was held last year.The entrance fee is R20 per person.Food and drinks will be provided at no cost.We have hired a bus for those who do not have transport.The bus will leave from the masjid on Sunday 23 April at 8.30 am.For further information ps call Sheikh Said or Mogamad Patel.Jzkl Sheikh Said

Our first Eat and Treat for Masjidur Raghmah was a huge success in Cape Town Alghamdulillaah. We thank Almighty Allah for making this possible. We want to thank the founding members of the Southern Cape Islamic Society and their contributions, the VOC, Mahabbah foundation, Madina Institute, MJC and all the Honourable Shujoogh that blessed us with their presence, may Allah reward you all.

George Masjid will be hosting an Eat&Treat on the 25th February 2017 in Cape Town at the Counrty Manor Estate , Schaapkraal. This fundraiser is in aid of the Masjids maintenance and day to day runnings. We humbly request each and everyone to buy a ticket with the remembrance that if you buy in the path of Allah its a Sadaqah that will forever reap rewards inshallah.
