First time running in Clubmans B
After a long festive break, with butterflies in his stomach, it was time for Don return to the circuit.
Friday's practice laps went smoothly until the brakes started to fade, with Stevens coming in a few laps early in the second session, having missed the first session due to traveling down that morning from homebase (George). The third session went better after bleeding the brakes and filling up with some new brake fluid.
Saturday morning saw a nice set of warm up laps completed just after 9am. Qualifying took place and Don could feel the rust was not completely shaken from his joints as his lap time was around 6 seconds off his PB.
Nevertheless, he kitted up and headed out for the first race of the day. Bringing in a best time in the 1.25 range with the brakes starting to fade once again. It was time to bleed the brakes again.
Race two saw stevens improve into the 1.23 range but an unknown electrical gremlin crept in and caused the bike to lose power with 3 laps to go until the end of the race.
Rather upsetting to load the bike back on the trailer and head home without completing the final race of the day but we will be back.
