Strength training, flexibility, mobility and overall physical fitness are all essential components in golf development. Strength and Conditioning Trainer Henrico Louw conducted various fitness, strength and endurance tests to ensure each studentโ€™s programme is tailor-made and suited to their specific needs for the term ahead.

Catching up with Head Coach Roger Wessels

The Open is my favourite major to watch and it once again produced the drama that we come to expect from this amazing Championship. Rory had the champions experience and it was his to lose in the last round but Cameron Smith and his putter are a formidable combination. He produced a short game display for the ages on the back nine to rip the Championship from Roryโ€™s grasp and write his name into the history of St Andrews. I am, however, hoping the Mullet doesnโ€™t become a required accessory amongst our students.

Iโ€™m sure Rory is disappointed that he didnโ€™t win at the Home of Golf but I donโ€™t think he lost, Cameron Smith, much like he did at The Players won the Championship. Cameron Smith is an undoubted genius on the greens but there is far more to his game and I find his composure in the high pressure situations awesome to observe.

Playing to win is what he does and he is without doubt one of the most intimidating competitors in the world of golf at the moment.

I was away for the month of June travelling with the very talented GolfRSA squad and enjoyed every minute of the tour. A wonderful culture has been developed over the past few seasons within the squad where discipline, determination, camaraderie and support are the pillars that have created an environment for excellence. Congratulations once again to Christiaan Maas who won the Brabazon Trophy and Aldrich Potgieter who produced amazing performances to win the British Amateur.

Travelling to some of the biggest amateur tournaments in the world gives me a birdโ€™s eye view of what international players are doing technically. Drills are a big part of the process they embark on, and I like to think of them as the glue that holds a playerโ€™s technique together.

The third term has just begun and it has been really good to catch up with our students after their holidays which included quite a bit of travelling and loads of golf. It was wonderful to see how their games have progressed through the performances produced. Well played and I look forward to the busy tournament schedule over the next few months.

A Testimonial from Former Golfer Hijke Pretorius

"In 2015 when I had joined KeNako and Rundle, I was absolutely amazed by the facility, the program, the syllabus, the teachers and professionals. The program and coaches allowed me to improve my discipline, attitude and taught me much needed skills for life. KeNako and the international Cambridge schooling opened doors for me that were far bigger and better dreams I had originally set out for myself. It paved a road forward for me to continue playing the game I love. Without the valuable skills that I have been taught, I would not have been able to conquer a different country, nor would have been able to graduate with my BSC degree. KeNako and Rundle are great institutions to help pave the way for young aspiring athletes from all over the world.โ€œ
