Concept formulation is one of the most crucial phases of the design process as it informs the decisions that the designer will make.
Mood-boards, poetry, words, music and other art forms often help to externalise and visualise the concept and is a fantastic aid in gathering ones’ thoughts regarding the direction that the project will take.

During the month of May, we prepare our gardens for the coming winter months and we set the foundation for our spring and summer gardens. Here are a few tips for you to get started:
• Start preparation to protect plants against frost by using frost guard covers and mulching the roots of plants to protect against frost
• This month is the last chance to plant your spring bulbs
• Plant primulas, pansies, violas, salvia, foxglove and dianthus this month for prettiness during the winter months. Just be careful to plant Foxglove close to children and animals as they are very poisonous
• Prune back plants that have flowered such as Plectranthus
• Perennials such as Agapanthus and strelitzias do well when planted during May
Happy gardening!
