Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at our most recent Build a Bot workshop on our Centurion Campus! Students teamed up to build battle-ready fighting robots from the ground up—designing, assembling, and wiring everything from motors and microcontrollers to custom weapon mechanics. These bots will take centre stage at our Microfighters Event Day on 2 October.

A night of Korean horror, new connections, and plenty of scares. Recently, the Open Window Horror Club at our Centurion campus joined forces with the K-Cinema Club at the Korean Cultural Centre for a special collaborative screening of Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018), bringing together fans of horror and Korean cinema for an unforgettable evening. Inspired by the urban legends surrounding Korea's abandoned Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital, the film delivered a tense found-footage experience that had audiences on the edge of their seats. But beyond the scares, the evening was an opportunity to connect with fellow film lovers, share theories, discuss favourite horror moments, and celebrate a genre that continues to captivate audiences around the world. A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a success. We look forward to more collaborations, more conversations, and many more nights at the movies.

We recently held a Clay Sculpting Workshop at our Johannesburg campus, introducing participants to the art of sculpting with air-dry clay. The workshop was creatively open-ended, allowing attendees to explore basic sculpting techniques and craft any forms they desired. Our guest instructor, Johann Nortje, is a talented sculptor and educator with over 20 years of experience in the field. His impressive portfolio includes numerous large-scale public artworks across South Africa.

Behind the Scenes: Step onto an International Film Set
(Stellenbosch Campus)

Step onto a working international film set and experience the craft that happens just out of frame. This Behind the Scenes tour offers a rare glimpse into professional, large-scale production at the highest level, where world-class set design, production design, costume, and makeup teams bring an entire cinematic world to life.

Participants will be guided through key departments on set, with opportunities to see how creative decisions are made in real time and how different disciplines come together to shape the final image on screen. The experience includes a short talk by the director, offering insight into the vision driving the production and the collaborative process behind it.

Please note that tour times are subject to change depending on production schedules and the availability of international cast and crew. Updates will be shared on this website and around campus, so students are encouraged to keep an eye out for the latest information.

The tour will most likely be structured as a series of smaller group sessions, which students will need to book in advance. RSVP details will be confirmed and updated on this website closer to the time, as scheduling remains dependent on the fluid nature of the production.

From meticulously built sets to character-defining costumes and transformative makeup work, this is a chance to witness filmmaking as a living, evolving process—where every detail matters and every department plays a role in telling the story.
