The 36ONE Clifton Mile Swim is this weekend. Formerly known as 1SOMS (1st Sunday of the Month Swim), it’s the first event in this season’s swimming calendar – and the first one brought to you by 36ONE Asset Management.

The event consists of three different swims to suit everyone from beginners to bosses. It’s all happening at Clifton 4th Beach on Sunday, 6 November.

• The half-hour 36ONE SplashDash, from 07h30 to 08h00, has been designed for beginners. It’s a short, guided swim to introduce newcomers to the basics of openwater and cold-water swimming.

• In the 45-minute 36ONE Lapper, from 08h00 to 08h45, swimmers of all levels will challenge themselves by completing as many laps as they can.

• And then the main event: The 36ONE Clifton Mile from 09h00 to 10h00. It has a moderate difficulty, with the route taking swimmers from Clifton 4th Beach to Moses Beach and back again.

Entries are open and will close at midnight on Friday 4 November, unless space runs out before then. These are very popular swims – don’t leave it to the last minute. Only a small number of tickets will be available on the day of the event itself.

The first 150 swimmers will receive a limited-edition complimentary swim cap. And there will be prizes and give-aways at the event.

I hope this generates interest amongst the coaches and clubs in Western Cape. The swim event is geared to encourage openwater swim growth and we cater for most levels. Swimmers can also elect from website to enter a combination of swims e.g. 1.5km + 3km or 1.5km+4.5km which would count as 2 finishers for the club prize. Hoping to sea your swimmers there!

Tables and umbrellas on the grass verge above the venue will enable socialising and the Camps Bay restaurants/takeaways are a stone's throw away - so bring your family to support you.

Clifton 4th is the venue for WP Lifesaving Nipper Champs on 5/6 March . With 600+ Nippers with supportive parents and grandparents the available parking and beach space will be very low.. Good luck to our future openwater swimmers who are in this space.

One week ahead of SAMS Openwater Championships 13/03/2022 (Elgin, Grabouw) this is a great opportunity for swimmers to participate in ocean openwater distances and our focus is to provide you opportunity to try-out your game plan . We are planning our routes to enable participation at all levels

08:00-10:00 Lapper (750m x)
08:00 1500m (2 laps)
08:30 3000m (4 laps)
08:45 4500m (6 laps)
GPS placement of buoys will ensure distance accuracy. Camps bay Tidal pool will be warmup venue.

For those who wish you can participate in more than 1 of the events -i.e. 1500+3000 or 1500+4500.

Early bird discounts will be available until Sunday 20/03/2022 23:59.
A festive atmosphere will be part of the day so bring family and friends along to watch you challenge yourself.
