Not just any artist - but a great one that will not only provide you with a beautiful application but a safe one too! Ask for recommendations and do your research first. It is completely acceptable to request a copy of certification and multiple photos of their work. Have a look at their Facebook and Instagram pages to see if their unique style of lashing attracts you.

Eyelash Extensions are not a 'one size fits all'. There are different techniques that will all result in different looks. Here is a basic breakdown:
πΏ CLASSIC:β (natural)
Classic eyelash extensions are also known as Single or Individual lashes. This is where one extension is attached to one natural lash to add mostly length and natural fullness to your current lashes. This results in a beautifully natural and mascara-like effect.β
πΏ HYBRID:β (noticeable)
Hybrid eyelash extensions are a mixture of 50% Classic lashes and 50% Volume fans to add length and fullness to your current lashes. This results in a beautifully natural yet noticeable effect.β

πΏ VOLUME:β (dramatic)
Volume eyelash extensions are also known as 6D or Russian Volume lashes. This is where multiple ultra-fine extensions are attached to one natural lash to add mostly fullness and moderate length to your natural lashes. Volume lashes result in a very full effect with a dense and dark lash line.β

Eyelash extensions are completely painless to apply and you can expect it to take between 1.5 - 3 hours for a full set application - depending on the technique that you have chosen. Touch-up appointments are required every 2-3 weeks to replace the extensions that have naturally shed with your own lashes. Keep in mind that your extensions should never feel heavy, irritating or uncomfortable. If applied correctly by an expertly trained artist, they should feel like your own lashes.

Eyelash extensions are a luxury service and you can expect to pay anywhere from R600 - R1000 for a full set.

How it all began.....
Monicaβs Beauty Emporium , is an amazing beauty salon... I am a certified Professional Advanced Nail Stylist and Artist and a Eyelash and Brow Artists. I have been in the industry for 15 years and have a great passion for what I do. I started to follow my dreams in November 2004 when I did my first nail course with Bio Sculpture in PE. In 2005 I did my acrylic course, and soon found out how amazing the nail industry can be. We opened our first nail salon in Sunridge Village in 2006, and business was booming, so 2007 I invested in my E-file training with Nailsforu in PE. In 2009 we moved to Brackenfell, and I had to start my nail business from scratch. What an experience it was to rebuild my clientele, it was not easy, but we made it work! I also found a love for Lash Extensions, and did a Classic lash course with Capri in 2012. In 2013 I needed to up my game in nail art and did a One-Stroke and free hand nail art course with Oksana Van Tonder. In May 2014 I entered my first ever Nail Competition through NSI, and won 1st place in Show Box and was awarded a Top Nail Technician trophy. In October 2014, I did it again and was awarded the National Winner in the Show Box category at the NSI Top Nail Technician Competitionβs Grand Finale. In July 2015 I decided it was time to try my hand at NSIβs Top Nail Technicianβs Sculpting category, and won 3rd place. I also walked away with 1st place in the Show Box Nail Art category. From there on my interest in becoming a Nail Trainer/Educator was sparked by the lack in Master Educators in the Cape Town area. So I became obsessed in finding the right academy to further my nail and lash career. In July 2015 I discovered Vogue Eyelash training academy, and did my Volume lash training with them, and totally fell involve with Volume Eyelashes. In October 2015 I did another One Stroke Nail art course and my advanced Acrylic course with Tracey Owgan from Magnetic Nail Academy in Alberton. I totally fel involve with the product and the quality of training I received from Tracey. In July 2016 I did another course with Vogue,and learned how to do 6D Michroblading, in October 2016 I also added Lash Lift to my courses that I did with Vogue. In November 2016 we hosted our first Magnetic Open Day in Cape Town with an Abstract Gel design Nail Art Workshop. In March 2017 I started my educators training with Magnetic and did a few more courses namely: Salon Management, Combination Artist and Trend Art. In July 2017 I added Colorful Summer designs nail art to my list of nail art courses. You can never learn enough in the nail and beauty industry, and I was on a roll, itβs as if I could not learn enough. In November we launched Powergel by Magnetic and I did an amazing 3D Bowβs Nail art workshop.In October 2017 we had another amazing workshop in Cape Town. I love training new students, as it just makes your heart fill with such joy to see how they grow and start to follow their dreams in the nail and beauty industry. The following quote is so true in every aspect of my salon and training : β The secret to Success is Loving what you Do, The secret to Happiness is doing what you Love.β
