EFFYC TBN Subregion Coordinator, Boitumelo Matlali, alongside Maletsatsi Mashoane and others led a community from Ward 39, Thaba N'Chu to demand answers and secure employment opportunities for locals on a pavement project. The community raised concerns:
1. People were employed without notification, breaching the councilor's agreement.
2. A list of selected individuals excluded some community members.
3. Undocumented people and those from other wards were employed, contradicting the councilor's assurances.
Additionally, only 10 males were employed, and 20 people are on a waiting list. The community requests that labour needs be met from this list going forward.
Key issues:
1. Lack of community notification
2. Employment of non-community members
3. Disregard for councilor's agreements
The community was looking for transparency and local employment opportunities.
