✏️Still in the rough stage… what’s catching your eye?

Are you interested in the steps before it's all done? Because if so...

I have this new idea for my next little capsule collection that feels so FUN 🎉 I want to go back to my roots of really trying to use the fewest lines possible to create an image. It's a practice in restraint when it comes to creating these types of illustrations.

If most of my art looks “easy”, that’s always been kind of the point.

A lot of work goes into making it feel that way. Every line, curve, and shape is intentional, spending a lot of time refining and editing, removing anything that doesn’t need to be there. The goal isn’t to add more detail, it’s to say as much as I can with as little as possible.

That’s often why I think we are drawn to it. Your eye isn’t overwhelmed, so your brain fills in the gaps. It feels clean, but still complete.

Moments like this remind me why I love being an artist. Creating something that reflects someone even more personally is always such an honor.

Trust your gut! ✨Gut feelings are guardian angels.

Since my twins were 4 years old, I have always written them little letters that I put inside their lunch boxes. Once in awhile, I come across a crumpled up, juice box stained note and I realize that the lessons I have tried to impart to my kids all these years, are lessons I wished I'd learned earlier myself!

I don't really like to live with regret, but I can name so many times in my life where I didn't listen to what my gut just knew. What about you?

I was thinking...🤔 you know, I've only been back on social media for about a week.

And my year long absence gave me some clear perspective on this phase of life.

I notice that we stop listening to what we're told we "should" do and start listening to what's right for us. We keep learning, surviving, evolving. We take it day by day and the difference now is we know what matters most.

We're more careful with our energy, our relationships, who we let get close, AND who doesn't deserve our time. We value life-long friendships and are just as thrilled when we find new friends; we know both are kind of rare. We may still have our parents, or not. Our children may be grown. Or not. Maybe we decided we didn't want kids. Maybe we weren't given a choice. We may be married. Or not. We might be lonely or wish we could be left alone.

I don't know if any of these things meet you where you're at right now, but I do know this. I am proud of the vivid, colorful women who come into my life. That's what this peacock represents to me. Even though AI said to say something else, I'm gonna talk to you like the actual real human being that I am.

So, yeah! I hope you know that my world is so much more colorful with YOU in it 🩷 I see you. You are bright and beautiful.
