🎉 We are thrilled to announce that the Bettendorf Public Library and the Family Museum, which comprise the Bettendorf's Learning Campus, have achieved the Certified Autism Center ™ (CAC) designation to enhance their support for all visitors and patrons, including autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals. 🌟

The Family Museum, recertifying for the second time, has introduced new practices like Special Needs Nights, resource guidance and additional sensory kits. The Bettendorf Public Library, now recognized as a CAC for the first time, offers resources on autism and neurodivergence and plans to provide sensory kits at service desks soon. 💙

The CAC certification requires training and certification of at least 80% of public-facing staff in autism and sensory differences and must be renewed every two years. 📚

By becoming a CAC, the zoo joins a wider movement initiated by Visit Greater Palms Springs, to achieve the Certified Autism Destination (CAD) designation.

The Living Desert also offers sensory bags containing fidget tools, noise-canceling headphones and other resources are available for checkout for those with sensory needs.
