Our June Alumni Chat is with researcher and entrepreneur Maya Gupta! Maya was the Washington State Champion and top scoring female competitor at the MATHCOUNTS National Competition in 1990. She founded Artifact Puzzles and runs the Hoefnagel Puzzle Club while working as a researcher for the University of Washington Department of Electrical Engineering. Are you looking for opportunities to serve students in your community? Build your resume and leadership skills? Stay involved with MATHCOUNTS and share your love of math with a new generation of Mathletes? Coaching a MATHCOUNTS team is a great way to do all of the above, and the Community Coaching Cohort is designed to support alumni who introduce MATHCOUNTS to new schools!

Whether you participated in the Competition Series or the National Math Club or both, all alumni currently enrolled in high school or college are invited to apply. Learn more and submit your application at mathcounts.org/ccc. The application form will close on Friday, May 29 at 5:00pm ET.

Rhode Island won the Spirit Award at the 2026 RTX MATHCOUNTS National Competition after impressing the entire Written Competition room with a team chant complete with choreography ☺️ For their spirited efforts, they received the coveted spirit stick, spirit pins and superhero capes! 🦸‍♀️ 🦸‍♂️
