I figure since NCECA just ended and there's some new folks who are unfamiliar with me I'd reintroduce myself. Also, it's Trans Day of Visibility.

Hi, I'm Joy. I'm trans, and it's probably the least interesting thing about me.

My community and my loved ones are the only way I've been able to stay sane lately. Seems like people are feeling the same need for coming together. This past year has seemed like the community organizing I've been doing has felt more real and impactful. Both PotStickers and Mahjong Hang have entered their second years and I am so grateful that such solid communities have come out of them.

To the q***r person reading this and feeling lonely and hopeless. Find a community space that loves you. Find people who actually care. I know it's few and far between, but once you find people that reciprocate the care you put into relationships, things get easier. You'll realize you don't have to do anything alone, that these folks have your back and your front.

To the gay (any flavor) Asian person who works in clay reading this, message me! I have a question for you!

Community is the only way we can move from a stable footing. With community, you can do things beyond your wildest dreams, or in the meantime, stay sane while the state of the world seems to be crumbling.

Thank you Sarka and Jess, you have stayed strong with me when I couldn't be. Your love and support has lifted me higher than I could've thought.
Thank you Tip for being so sweet and giving me hope in teaching again. You told me I changed your life, but it happened the other way around as well.
Thank you Nat and Thomas for starting a Mahjong club on a whim with me. You two have given me community that I have been in need of since forever.
Thank you Art and Dave for becoming my Asian art uncles. Your support has meant the world to me. Thank you for showing up for me when others haven't.
Thank You for being you.

What a whirlwind this past week has been. My heart is so full and I am so happy to have seen so many of my dirt friends in person!
PotStickers Pop-Up has completed its second year, and I'm excited to start planning for Baltimore. Some rest is necessary before any of that starts.
