It's not often I run around thrusting books into people's hands, but this one is really fantastic. Equal parts history and historiography, and written with a wry sense of humor, Forget the Alamo deconstructs one of the founding myths of Texan history in a really smart and engaging way. (Also, I had no idea Phil Collins was obsessed with the Alamo.)
