WORLD JUNIOR CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Here we have the day 6 results from the Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja, Finland.

Note - We have to make a correction from previous posts on the event. The original plan that we were given was that the bottom three teams in each event would be relegated to the World Junior-B Curling Championships next season. Normally, the season prior to an Olympic Games, the World Juniors are held in the same venue, to be used as a test event. Because of that, Italy, who was not in the World Juniors this season, would be in the Worlds next season as they are host. An issue has arisen in that confirmation of the event has not been sent from Italy. With that, the bottom four teams, not three, from each event are being relegated, as only six at this time can have their spots confirmed, at least until Italy confirm that they are hosting in 2025. Information for this correction coming from a communication from the World Curling Head of Competition.

HOMAN WINS SHOWDOWN

Here we have the Draw 12 results of the 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts from Winsport Arena in the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta.
Sheet A
New Brunswick*
2 0 3 0 0 3 0 0 0 1 - 9
0 2 0 2 0 1 1 2 0 - 8
Ontario (Inglis)

The single from New Brunswick with the hammer coming home was their first score since the sixth, as the Easterners get their second win of the Scotties. A team 74% in the winning effort, despite Skip Melissa Adams game low of 70%. On the Ontario side, a team 85% with Lead Cassandra de Groot a game-leading 96%.

Sheet B
Manitoba (Cameron)
0 3 0 0 0 2 0 1 3 X - 9
2 0 0 1 0 0 2 0 0 X - 5
Northwest Territories*

Numbers wise, the Territories out-curled Manitoba 84%-77%. Manitoba Lead Mackenzie Elias a game-leading 92%. The steal of three in nine that ended the game was the only steal in a game with two blanks in nine ends.

Sheet C
Ontario (Homan)
1 0 2 0 1 0 2 0 1 X - 7
0 2 0 1 0 2 0 0 0 X - 5
Manitoba (Jones)*

Team Ontario a combined 86% in the winning effort, out-curling their opponents by 10%. Manitoba was held without a point from the seventh on, and they were up 5-4 at that time. Ontario (Homan) are the last in Pool B to be undefeated.
