I will be at Cavalcade of Customs car show in Cincinnati all weekend next weekend at the Lawrence Motorsports booth collecting pre-registrations for the car show. We already have about 40 entries so donโt miss out!
With all the snow falling recently, this little car would have been one of the only vehicles out on the road back in the 1960's (most likely driven by the snowplow truck drivers getting to their jobs). This is the first Corvair meme quote I did a few years ago when I answer people who ask me how good Corvairs are to drive in the winter. It says it all.
Most folks who own these air-cooled wonders usually store their Corvairs during the winter so they haven't had the pleasure of experiencing winter driving. I do understand if you have a pristine car or want to keep it from rusting more, but I drive a Corvair every day year round (life is too short) and I own 10 of them (from be**er cars to parade quality). I have my winter sled cars that include a 1963 Monza (4 speed, 102hp), a 1965 Monza (4 speed, 110hp) and a 1965 Monza (Powerglide, 110hp). Fun to drive and folks absolutely love seeing these cars out on snowy roads (giving me lots of "thumbs up") because I'm in the town where most were built...Willow Run. That's how I Meet the Makers who built these cars as a lot of them still live here and can't wait to approach me to tell their stories when they worked at the plant.
Anyone have a good winter Corvair story and/or photos, please share in the comment section below.
P.S. For those wondering...Corvairs also have great heaters!
