New products are coming Friday!! Can’t wait!

Tried something new recently with some smaller 10” straw hats. I have painted and decorated the larger hats for hanging on the wall or door in the past but these can sit on a table or I like them sitting on a candlestick for display.

This hat includes a vintage lace collar. Another new touch is to add some molded air-dry clay to the hat band. I used Debi’s DIY clay based paints, clear wax, and dark wax.

Paint, clay and mould can be found Aunt Bea's Attic. It’s a good day to get creative!

Happy Independence Day!! 🇺🇸

Trying something new today. I need to replenish my stick horse inventory and felt inspired to use some of my patterned fabrics that are left over from other projects. I used a polka dot and floral.

I don’t know…what do you think? 🤔 I will definitely make regular horses with plain fabrics but these are kind of fun and whimsical too.

So very excited and thankful for this opportunity to share a vendor space at Berlin Craft Mall with Aunt Bea's Attic. If you are in the neighborhood stop in to see our space! We are located just behind the large space with wood blanks.

This has been an easy weekend project. Upcycled some old strawberry containers with IOD ink, stamps and some florals. So easy and happy with how they turned out.

This is thinking outside the box!

Finished up another one that has been sitting on the shelf for quite some time. I tried out the twisty mushroom resin method that Ellen J Goods shared recently. It can be a little tricky and I need some more practice but love how they turned out.

I bought the planter at Walmart or Hobby Lobby (?) it has been too long ago so I am not sure. It came with the crackled texture. Paints used are Debi’s DIY, clear and dark wax. A mixture of resin and air dry clay mushrooms. The pot was wired to a grapevine wreath and embellished with mosses and greenery. So fun!

It feels so good to have some of these projects that have been a work-in-progress out of my head and out in the world! Now to get creating something new.

The Magical Fairy House will be available Aunt Bea's Attic next week.

Experimenting with mixed media. So fun! This piece provided me the opportunity to play with decoupage paper from Autumn Sage Creations, IOD’s new stamp sets Pastiche and Textures, IOD air dry clay, and Debi’s DIY paints all available Aunt Bea's Attic. I started with a clearance rack Hobby Lobby wall art that I purchased with the thought of turning it into something special. It was easy to paint over the script since it did not have any dimension. Then I played with placing decoupage pager and incorporating the bird cage stamps. To fill in I was able to play with using the stamps in air dry clay to create feathers and eggs. I also added feathers and a bird stamped on tea bags that had been rinsed and dried. Look up tea bag art on Pinterest. There is a whole community of people making amazing art from used tea bags! The label was also created from IOD products Conservatory Labels mould and Apothecary Labels Stamp for the text. To grunge it up I used Debi’s clear wax and Dark Decrepit Dust.

Experimenting is so fun but you must remain open to change. This can be difficult. Sometimes the process doesn’t turn out like you imagined. Taking time to step back and think through the next step to improve the outcome when you are not happy with a step takes patience and sometimes courage not to just abandon your work. This piece went through many stages and there were times I wasn’t in love with it, but I stuck with it and found it was worth the effort in the end.

Give something new a try! It is good for your brain and so satisfying to create something new that is unique to you!

Matthew 16:19 This one has been a year in the making! Last year I got started with decoupaging the music pages, putting base coat of paint on creating the cross outline and adding the IOD Painterly transfers. Then I was stuck with how to finish the background and outline of the cross. It sat in my basement until I pulled it out again this year to finish before Easter. I still wasn’t sure what direction to take it until I saw the IOD Locks & Keys mould and they inspired me to form the outline of the cross and use the verse to finish it off.

The painted background and locks are a mix of Debi’s DIY paint colors. Love how those paints blend! Thank you to Aunt Bea's Attic and Autumn Sage Creations for helping me to bring this to the finish line!

I can’t wait for y’all to meet one of my creative loves — Fort Lonesome!

They’re featured on the ABK Edit today.

This quote from Kathie Sever, the Fort Lonesome founder, is so powerful. And when it comes to our creations, it’s very tough to NOT personalize.

Guess what! I’m excited to share that Winds of Whimsy has it’s own spot on Aunt Bea’s Attic website! I will share a link where you can find my creations on consignment. Here are some ideas of what is available.

I am incorporating more of their product supplies into my work. I am hooked on IOD- Iron Orchid Designs and Debi’s DIY paint, Paint Couture, and the many many decoupage papers available. They have a nice collection of gifts and handcrafted items. Plus a small boutique with cute women’s and children’s clothing.

Stay tuned, more to come! ❤️

Fall Fairy Door pumpkin

Photos from Winds of Whimsy's post 25/09/2023

More to come but I am thinking my next project will be an art makeover. I love taking old Home Interior framed art that is past it’s prime and turn it into something completely new and different. This is one that has been sitting in my basement for a couple of years waiting for the right time. I picked it up at Goodwill for a whole $3.

The Fairy Merry Christmas IOD Transfer is soooo cute and I can’t wait to use it on some projects. My thought is to also incorporate the new IOD stamp, Winter Adornment in the background of this wreath. One of these sweet fairy’s will sit in the center of the wreath too. Debating if I keep the green outer mat as is and just lose the pink/burgundy picture? It will become more clear once I have a solid background to work off of. Layers and texture…that’s my vibe.

Stay tuned!

I have had a blast putting this pumpkin project together the last week. It is from a class called Elegant Pumpkins and Toadstools by Old to Ooh La La using IOD mounds. I also used DIY paint and Golden Ticket patina for the golden sparkle. I had to improvise a bit since my background was a bit larger but I am super happy with how it has turned out. I purchase IOD products at a gem of a shop in little West Salem Ohio called Aunt Bea’s Attic.

This dresser has been up for grabs across the street from me for a week! I can’t see it go into the burn pile. This will be a great project to play with decoupage and IOD moulds on! Stay tuned.

Fall crafting is complete! Here is a snippet of one of my projects for this season using a vintage embroidered tablecloth that has been sitting my the basement for longer than I care to admit. It had some stains but was perfect to piece out and create some simple pumpkins.

I discovered this year that k***s and hardware make fun pumpkin stems. Maybe you have some vintage finds or you can visit the Hobby Lobby hardware aisle like me.

More whims to come soon. Stay tuned.
