Sammy’s family reached out for help. He was adopted only days prior, and is a naturally shy and skittish dog. Shy and skittish dogs are always more difficult to “catch”, and oftentimes, have to be humanely trapped.

Sammy was in and out of traffic on Sterretania and Grubb roads, adding to an already stressful situation. After being seen numerous times, Sammy disappeared for a few days-putting us all on edge. Vantage Point came in, but was unable to locate Sammy. Michael became fearful that Sammy went down a ravine, and was unable to get back out. We always advise against searching woods for skittish dogs, unless they are assumed to be injured or caught on something; but in this case, with no sightings, we made the decision to have the family search. Still, Sammy was unable to be located by his family; and was not appearing on our cameras.

Finally, there was a sighting the same night that his family had searched the creek beds. A neighbor called in a sighting around 1:15. Sammy made his way to the food plot around 1:30 AM. Michael rushed out the door, to look, and finally saw him around 2:15 AM. He placed two different traps-one where he had the food station, and another one in a completely different area. The 2nd trap was deployed in the direction that Michael saw him traveling. He had to rush to pick up the trap, and carry it from the road, down to a tree line near a field-after seeing Sammy run through a patch of woods, and into the field. Scent trails were ran, and food plots were placed. Michael headed back home around 3:30 AM. Upon checking the camera around 5:00, Michael discovered Sammy was secured in the trap. For whatever reason, the camera never alerted, but Michael is diligent when it comes to keeping an eye on things. Michael picked up Sammy, and made a very special delivery, to his overjoyed pawrents! It had been pouring down rain and thundering all night, and even so, Sammy made it to the trap.

Michael Valerio’s trapping abilities and his willingness to work around the clock have brought (and continue to bring) countless dogs to safety! We would also like to thank Sammy’s family for their generous donation!! We are a nonprofit and cover all of our own expenses 💗🐾🫶🏻.

Staci seen reports of a dog being dumped in North East. Apparently the pup stayed on the same road for two days, most likely waiting for his human to return. Michael went out almost immediately, upon learning that this dog needed help. Several neighbors tried to help, but the pup was skittish, and kept running away. Micheal located the dog, ran a scent trail, and loaded the trap with great food. This handsome fellow was in the trap a few hours later.

Michael initially set up a box trap, but the pup never went to the original trap. A neighbor called Michael at 1:15 AM, and advised that the dog was on her back porch. Michael went back out at 2 AM and, located the dog about 3/4 of a mile away from the original trap . Michael was out of food, so he had to stop at GetGo, for chicken and tuna salad sandwiches. Michael was able to hand feed him, and at one point, actually had the slip-lead around his neck; but he was able to back out. Michael was just sick to his stomach, but luckily, the pup stayed nearby. He continued to eat, so Michael set the second trap. Michael made a trail into the 2nd trap, but the pup wouldn't go all the way in while Michael was there. Michael pulled the van down about 100 feet, and couldn't see him, but then heard the door close on the trap. Michael booked it to the trap, and he was in there. The pup was secured by 3:30 AM, and Michael was back home around 4:15 AM.

This boy is very sweet, and was on a very busy (and dangerous) road! These photos show just how sweet this pup is, and just how passionate Michael Valerio is about helping dogs in need! This pup will be up for adoption at the ANNA Shelter .💗 🐾 🫶🏻

We saw this pup on the way back from Slippery Rock this morning at 7:45. He was crossing 79. He did make it across. We exited and went down the road I knew he was headed to. We did not want to get out and chase him back towards the highway. But we did not see him anywhere. Thank you Rob Leuschen for looking with me.
Michael Valerio was contacted and Erie Animal Network . Canine Crusaders will be looking for him to set trap. Prayers he or she is caught and does not go back towards 79.
