Golden Laced Wyandotte chicks are growing fast 🪶🪶🪶

I have to give a shout-out to my Omlet automatic chicken door. I’ve had it for years, and it’s been one of the best investments for my coop. It opens and closes automatically every day, so I never have to worry about being home at sunrise or sunset.

I did learn one lesson the hard way. Today I had to replace the motor because last winter the door froze shut from snow and ice buildup, and the motor burned out trying to open it.

After replacing the motor, I built this simple awning over the door to keep the snow and ice off of it so it doesn’t happen again. Hopefully this little addition will save me from replacing another motor in the future.

If you have an Omlet automatic door—or you’re thinking about getting one—and you live in a snowy climate, I highly recommend adding a small awning above it from the start. It’s a simple, inexpensive fix that can save you a lot of hassle.

Other than that, I absolutely love this door and would buy it again in a heartbeat. My chickens and I both appreciate the convenience!

Sure enough… DOUBLE YOLK! 🍳💛💛

I couldn’t resist scrambling it up, and it made the fluffiest, most beautiful breakfast. Sometimes the best surprises come from the coop!

Who else gets excited when they crack open an egg and find two yolks? 🙋‍♀️ Some say it’s good luck—I just know it’s twice the deliciousness!
