⬇️The full filter my caddy uses as I couldnt get all of this into the video, so here’s the proper breakdown & my own pick using it.
It’s held up almost perfectly for the last 20 winners with only a few exceptions.
First thing is Augusta form. You almost always need to have contended here before, usually at least a top 10. This place is just too unique to learn on the fly. The green complexes, the angles, the misses… experience matters more here than almost anywhere else.
Second is approach play, the most important part of all of this. You need to be an elite iron player historically, and you need to be arriving in strong iron form right now. Looking at both PGA Tour and DataGolf numbers, the benchmark is top 30 in SG: Approach on the PGA stats, and/or around +0.5 and above on DataGolf.
Third is current form. When I say “contention”, I mean players who have already shown something this season a win, a top 3, multiple top 10s.
Most Masters winners don’t just suddenly find it that week, they arrive already playing well. If you’re coming in off missed cuts, withdrawals, or just floating around outside the top 30, it’s usually not the profile.
This is where I had added my own thoughts to get the shortlist down and make my solo pick. Let’s be honest it’s an amazing shortlist and always an outside chance of someone else breaking the mould, historically it’s just unlikely!
And then the fourth piece is control and putting. You don’t need to be the best putter in the world to win Augusta, but you absolutely cannot be arriving cold on the greens. The general benchmark is at least neutral (0.0) or positive in strokes gained putting coming in. If someone’s been consistently losing strokes on the greens, that’s a big red flag because Augusta punishes that quickly.
The biggest thing I realised going through this is that it’s not just about ticking the boxes… it’s about how cleanly you tick the boxes compared to everyone else.

An awful lot to be thankful of this year, & even more to be excited about for next. Thanks to everyone & anyone who supports anything and everything that I do. I feel like a very lucky man to work in the job that I do and don’t ever want to take for granted the opportunities that I get, including this week having .carmichael_brown & the kids out with me at this truly world class resort while I got to play in the Pro Am of the at the insane z We have loved every second of it as you can see from swiping across and the little recap video. Unreal setting, hospitality, food and of course golf!
Slow play brings out the worst in me….
Best episode yet?! Day 4 of trying to make a Par (playing alternate shot) with my 5 year old son Rupert. Our best score so far was a double bogey, but today we take on the Par 5, 5th & finally Roo is letting us play off the normal tees (still 550 yards though!) My daughter Nelly (8) wants in next episode, what do we think? What a resort this is by the way, 2 great courses and the spectacular hotel right next to the course where we stayed. THANK YOU! What a genuine honour it was to host another Seb On Golf Invitational & the Worlds First Ever Golf Race! To be able to gather 12 of the countries biggest golf creator superstars isn’t something I take for granted. Neither is the hospitality of some of the worlds very best golf courses and resorts in & , or the support of in making it all possible once again! A huge thank you to you all, everyone that tuned in and of course my incredible team behind the scenes in the planning, ex*****on and production of one of my favourite things I do all year. I just posted Episode 4 (if you include putting pens teaser vid as ep1) which is a full unseen footage BTS vlog to round off the event & also includes a very ambitious & hilarious Lighthouse Golf challenge! I have been massively inspired by all the work from & for their Internet Invitational over in the US, which was simply exceptional and it is just amazing to see the bar continuing to be raised in golf content worldwide once again.
