🚨New data🚨 continues to point toward a big time winter storm from Friday through Sunday. A broad swath of heavy snow is becoming more likely, with the potential for significant snowfall totals where the colder air stays locked in. This is the kind of setup where totals matter, and they could add up quickly.

Just to the south of the main snow band, there is increasing concern for dangerous freezing rain and sleet, which raises the risk for power outages and very hazardous travel. Even a small amount of ice can cause big problems, especially when it piles up on trees and power lines.

It is important to stress that exact placement is still uncertain. The difference between heavy snow, ice, or much lower impacts could come down to small shifts north or south in the storm track. That line will continue to move as we get closer.

This is a high impact system with multiple hazards, and details will be refined over the next couple of days. Stay weather aware, be prepared for changing conditions, and keep checking for updates as confidence increases.
