I'm excited to have this large scale canvas in the very first group show of the new LIC Gallery in Seattle.

This painting is from my first residency at in 2018. One of the most intense experiences I had there was a late night walk from my studio back to my cabin in complete darkness. The lights were off and there was no moon, no stars, nothing but the absence of light and the sound of the wind in the tall grasses. I found my way back by putting one foot on the gravel path and one foot on the mown lawn, using memory, sound, and touch to orient myself. I imagined being on my own little planet, with the unseen stars and grasses singing to me in a language I could almost-but-not-quite understand. This painting is kind of what that felt like. Incidentally, it was also one of my very first large scale paintings on canvas.

See it in person at LIC GALLERY, which officially opens its doors on April 1st at 10 am.

906 Alaskan Way , Seattle, Washington, 98104 (Maritime Building, across from the ferry)

LIC Gallery open hours are Wednesday through Sunday 10-5.

The gallery will also be open for the Thursday evening Art Walk on April 2nd and the show runs through May 3rd.

In May, I will have my solo show with the gallery, which, coincidentally, will include new works from my 2025 residency at PLAYA.

The excellent first photo is by , and the second image is a cell phone shot, taken in the painting studio at PLAYA on the last day of my 2018 residency.

Sooo excited to be a part of this new gallery opening up on Seattle's waterfront early next year. The website is live already, so you can check it out now - there's even a way to buy works online that I will ship directly from my studio.

There's a link in my bio to my page on the site, the homepage is lostincomposition.com, and their instagram is .

Paul Drinkwine (yes, his real name) is the founder. He's on the right in the second photo with his husband, Bill, and me at my opening at Souvenir in September. They are some of the most delightful people I've ever met, and Paul is both an old-school, idealistic advocate for artists AND a tech-savvy, down-to-earth businessperson - exactly the kind of gallerist that every artist dreams of working with. I feel incredibly honored and lucky to be involved in this project!

psst, artist friends: they accept submissions (unless you already have representation in Seattle, Paul is heavily involved and invested in the art scene there and is playing nice) so check out their submissions page to see if your work would be a good fit :)

I keep getting asked if I have tango artworks, and while the answer is mostly no, I did finally clean up an older image file of a sold work to make it available as prints. The original title was "Corazon Milonguero" but on the site it's posted as "Slow Dance" because there's no better translation 😂 If anyone orders one please lmk because I have no idea what goes to whom with prints on that site ❤️ https://www.artfullywalls.com/art-prints/product/slow-dance-76366

Margaret is at Pen + Brush Gallery in NYC right now - she's not in the Bodies show, but she is on site and you can see her listing on Artsy here: https://www.artsy.net/artwork/heather-goodwind-margaret. Margaret (Series 37 #17) features a feminized landscape adorned with strings of bright pearls and dark anti-pearls. A shadow rises above the place where they meet, looming like a storm but contained within the cyclical nature of life. The stretched canvas is 24x30 inches, plus a little more including the frame :)

Pen + Brush is a 129-year-old publicly supported not-for-profit fighting for gender equity in the arts. Also for sale on their Artsy page are lots of great works by women, non-binary and female-identified transgender artists - 75% of all sales go directly to the artist and 25% goes back in to feed the organization’s work.

I'm excited to be included in this show at Pen + Brush in NYC. Bodies, Bodies, Bodies: Raffish Vulnerability and Profane Ambivalence opens on June 15th and runs through August 26th.

"Artists in the exhibition pull back the veil on submission, loss, desire, vulnerability, and the body's ability to symbolize actualities about the turbulent human experience."
