Civic engagement is not a season. It is a discipline. Knowing what is on your local ballot, who appoints your judges, and how redistricting affects your district are the building blocks of real political power. Study the board before you make your move.
Real talk.
Malcolm X didn't have a merch store. He had a mission. The civil rights movement wasn't a brand — it was blood, sacrifice, and strategy.
What are we doing today?
A lot of what gets called Black consciousness right now is somebody selling you something. A course. A hoodie. A mindset package. Using the language of liberation to build a following and a revenue stream.
That's not a movement. That's a market.
I'm not saying everybody is a fraud. I'm saying we have to be honest about the difference between somebody who is actually moving the needle on Black political power — and somebody who figured out how to monetize the aesthetic of resistance.
Because the system benefits when our energy goes into content consumption instead of real civic action.
