What a joy to visit the Windy City and celebrate Cypriot cinema at the lovely Siskel Film Center!

Thank you to the Chicago European Film Festival, the Υφυπουργείο Πολιτισμού - Deputy Ministry of Culture CY, Invest Cyprus - Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (Cyprus Film Commission) and Netflix. It was wonderful to share the stage with Marios Psaras and Minos Papas and a very big thank you to Emily Long, Christy and Steve Maria Theofanous for taking such good care of us! We got to meet some of the very warm and welcoming Hellenic community and as a member of the Diaspora, it felt like home again ❤️

The film project is currently in stage, with coproducing partners from Greece (Atalante Productions S.A. ) and Belgium (Mirage), telling the poignant story of an intersex woman who has to face her traumatic past to prevent history from repeating itself.

🎬 What made you decide to produce the film?

"Our writer-director Yianna Americanou approached me with this story a few years ago. I had known Yianna for years but we never had the opportunity to work together. She's a person of great integrity and an established and dynamic filmmaker in Cyprus whose films stand out for their visual identity and their approach to social and human rights, so I was very excited to come on board.

I myself was not familiar with what 'intersex' meant or the challenges and hardships that intersex people face..."

MY NAME IS LILY was one of the 10 selected projets for the Coprocity Development Award 2025 and was a Cyprus Film Days International Film Festival - Dot.on.the.Map Meeting Point 2025 project.
