We're thrilled to announce the two recipients of the WIFT+ Toronto Scholarship for the St. John's International Women's Film Festival, JJ Neepin and Aisha Fairclough.

This competitive scholarship, made possible by the Foundation for WIFT+ Toronto, awards two WIFT+ Toronto members with a full SJIWFF industry pass and a $2,000 stipend to support travel costs.

JJ Neepin is an Indigenous Director & Writer based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is a member of the Fox Lake Cree Nation. JJ is the founder of JJNeepinFilms INC. and has screened many of her works in festivals around the world including the CBC short documentary Headdress. She began her TV career directing for several documentary series including APTNโ€™s Taken and Michif Country. Making the move from documentary to scripted television JJ has directed an episode of CTVโ€™s Acting Good, season 3 and an episode of Hudson & Rex, season 5.

Aisha Fairclough is an award-winning Producer & Director with over a decade of experience creating creating culturally resonant, story-driven content across television, digital, and branded platforms. As Series Producer of 1 Queen 5 Qu**rs, she was awarded a Canadian Screen Award, and her short films Body Politics and Remembering Us have premiered nationally with critical acclaim. Aisha is also co-founder of Body Confidence Canada and served on the board of Inside Out and is on the Toronto Metropolitan Universityโ€™s School of Fashion Advisory Council.
