I have time to squeeze in a couple more mini/ornament pet portraits before Christmas!

Here are the frames I have available. I have multiples of some of them, for anyone who needs matching frames for multiple pets.

Commissions are also now officially open for all sizes for after Christmas šŸŽ‰ I will post an updated price list and get my etsy listings back up after the holidays.

Message me to place an order!

Lastly, I have my more abstract art and some miscellaneous pieces. The first drawing is the metal blade that comes on a box of aluminum foil. It was fun to hear some guesses on what this was. One person was actually able to get it immediately! The second drawing is of an old chainsaw blade. For the pushpin, I thought it was fun to have the reflections in it (it was clear) and such a bold shadow behind it. Next, I have an old, rusty shovel that has some dry concrete on it, rose petals, and a Covid test. Lastly, I have a mixed media piece compiled of failed and abandoned projects throughout the making of this show!

Next up is my nature section. Nature ā€œusesā€ things just like humans do, but the cool thing is how one item can be useful to multiple plants and animals. For example, the big oak leaf I drew collected sunlight for the tree, helped provided shade to the ground and cover for wildlife, and was a source of food and breeding location for various insects. Once it fell to the ground in the fall, it would become mulch for the tree, help provide shelter for overwintering insects and critters, and would ultimately decompose and add nutrients back to the soil. I loved drawing this particular leaf with all the different sized holes in it :). Other art in this section include other leaves, a leaf skeleton from an actual leaf, feathers, the shell of a dragonfly, bees, and a necklace made of my dog’s whiskers!

Sharing the rest of the art from my show today. The show is only up for two more days, so if you still plan to go see it, make sure you get out there today or tomorrow šŸ™‚. Work is for sale though the gallery The 567 Center for Renewal
First up, the Veteran Soles. These were really fun to do! The shoelaces did get quite tedious, but I think that’s the part that really makes the drawings šŸ™‚. All of the boots belong to active duty or retired service members and were worn through their careers, including deployments. All the drawings are done in soft pastel and charcoal. I am thinking about offering boot commissions if anyone is interested in getting theirs done!

Thirdly, I would like to share my ballet and coffee pieces from my show, kind of a little passion themed sub series.

I’ve always been fascinated by ballet, the dance itself and the pretty items they wear. If I had any rhythm or balance at all, I’d definitely attempt to be a ballerina! The first drawing is of a vintage ballet dress I found in a thrift store. I drew it using graphite and white pastel pencil on wood. The giant pointe shoes were also found in a thrift store. I had fun drawing these extra large! I think one would look good on its own, so they are for sale either separately or together with a discount. The tiny ballet shoes in ā€œLittle Dreamerā€ were worn by a best friend’s daughter in her ballet class and I just thought they were so precious.

Lastly, we have the used coffee filters and grounds. The giant one is called ā€œRituals.ā€ I let it sit out and dry for a couple hours before photographing it and the brown rings appeared on the coffee filter. It reminds me of a topographical map. This is my favorite piece in the whole show šŸ™‚

The smaller, life-sized coffee filter drawing is ā€œFoggy Morningā€ was photographed wet straight out of the coffee pot. This drawing has sold! The others are still for sale through The 567 Center for Renewal. The show will remain up through April 25th if you want to go see everything in person.

The next section I would like to share from my show at is the hardware section! This is by far my favorite sub series in the whole exhibit.

I had so much fun collecting and drawing these items. Most of the items were recovered while doing renovation projects around my house or discarded on the job site volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. I found the nut and the plastic washer at the park while walking my dog.

The brass screws in ā€œAll That Glittersā€¦ā€ sparked the idea for the entire series, but the little screw called ā€œLeader of the Packā€ was the first drawing I actually completed. I liked it so much that I intended to do a whole series before I even knew I was going to get a show.

I am posting pictures from my ā€œUsedā€ exhibit at The 567 Center for Renewal section by section. The show is still up until the 25th in downtown Macon. Pieces are available for sale through the gallery.

The show starts with an art/artist section. First up is my self portrait, ā€œFrom the Drawing’s Perspective.ā€ The drawing focuses on my hand, which is covered in pastel and charcoal and holding one of my favorite soft pastel colors. It was fun to draw my face in the background out of focus. This drawing has sold!

My Artist Statement has a brief bio and description about the show.

Next, I have a tiny yellow pencil called ā€œCracked.ā€ It is hard to tell in the photo, but if you look closely at the drawing, you can see the wood of the pencil is split.

Lastly, I have one of my favorites, ā€œHourglass,ā€ an 18x18ā€ drawing which depicts a white charcoal pencil. The pencil has been used so much and sharpened down to a tiny little stub with shavings scattered around it. The is how all my pencils end up… until they are too tiny to hold!
