A task list to rule all others, for creatives. 🧙♂️

Even though we function as a team, each of us here has a lot of autonomy to plan our workday. That much freedom can be crippling at times. If you’re like me, you’re easily distracted and susceptible to choice fatigue.
•
Over the years, I’ve tried a lot of productivity tools and philosophies. Some of them have really helped me be more disciplined. But the options can be overwhelming, leaving me longing for a simple, dependable set of directives.
•
So I developed a shortlist of “master tasks.” These help me evaluate the work I’m planning for a given day or week. If it doesn’t fall into one of these categories, I can quickly recognize I probably shouldn’t be doing it. Or it’s not a priority.
•
This way, if all else fails and I start running on autopilot too much, I can always come back to a simple framework that I know is trustworthy. It’s like a compass for my to-do list.

Lots to be thankful for.

Things have been tough, and the struggle isn’t over. But we’re glad to stop and reflect on how much we have to be thankful for.

Not the least of which is a list of loyal clients, whose support, inspiration, and good humor have allowed us to keep doing this work we love—and makes it so much more rewarding.

These hotshots make up one of the most experienced and credentialed tech teams in the business. A huge benefit to customers, but on its own the message can be a little dry and cliché sounding. We helped them find a fresh approach.

Actually, it’s the people at Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action who are doing the fighting. But their new website should help.
•
Part of a larger rebrand project, it was an important place to highlight their values. We did this by creating a look and feel that is fresh and friendly. Relatable, not condescending. And with uncluttered messaging that is optimistic, realistic, and gets to the point.
•
We focused more on their primary audience: people looking for services. To this end, we revised the navigation and recast institutional-sounding “insider” language (goodbye, acronyms!)
•
One of our goals was to make it easy for people to find resources using smartphones, as over half of their visits are on such devices.
•
We created icons to unify the presentation of their programs and show how they all work together for one mission. And infographics to underscore vital - but potentially dense - statistics around poverty and child development.
•
For the programs’ subsections, we brought consistency and clarity to their message and built a framework that makes it easier to maintain high-quality content.
•
It’s been an honor to watch how works so hard to get much-needed resources out to those who need them.
