When a child is diagnosed with learning disabilities it can be really difficult and isolating for a family. Emmy Bells Support Team is there to offer support in the best way we can.

Every child is very special. A child with learning difficulties is a Child in Need.

After working with some families, we have discovered that alot of families have little or no knowledge on what Learning Disabilities is.

And due to various reasons, be it fear of the unknown, denial, stigma from friends and family or cultural differences. Some parents believe that Learning disabilities can be cured through prayers and intervention, whilst some believe that practicising their traditionals rituals will heal their child.

Some parents have mentioned that they do not wish to engaged with Social workers because of the stigmation around social workers that they are not there to help but only to remove children from their families and break homes.

Engaging with professionals within your borough will help you receive adequate support nomatter what background you are from.
