Maximilian Josef Riedel (born in Vienna, Austria in 1977) is the 11th generation Riedel and CEO of Riedel Crystal of America, a branch of the glassmakers who, in the 1950s, introduced the concept of varietal specific wine glasses.
At the Vivanco Winery in Rioja ❤️ I had the pleasure of visiting what is truly one of the most spectacular wine museums in the world 🌍 an extraordinary celebration of wine culture, history, art, and tradition in the heart of one of the world’s most treasured wine regions.A special moment was tasting the beautiful “La Isla” Rioja, an elegant and terroir-driven wine with remarkable freshness, refined Tempranillo character, and the signature balance that makes Rioja so timeless 👌🏻
Wonderful to see Riedel glasses being part of the daily wine celebration here in Rioja. Especially meaningful this year as we celebrate 100 years of Rioja and 270 years of Riedel. 🍷
In Madrid 🇪🇸 at the Rosewood Hotel, I’ll be hosting a Riedel Wine Glass Experience tomorrow, Monday 😉 and to best prepare myself and I are opening today on Sunday Wine Funday one of Spain’s 🇪🇸 most iconic wines 🍷 Vega Sicilia Único 2008.
A magnificent blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, Único 2008 shows extraordinary elegance, depth, and complexity with notes of dark fruit, cedar, to***co, and spice. Presented in the Spanish edition of the Amadeo decanter ❤️, decorated in the colors of the Spanish flag, it is the perfect celebration of Spanish wine and design.
But here’s the question 😆Which Riedel glass suits the wine best the Tempranillo glass or the Cabernet glass? You can only discover the answer by smelling and tasting side by side 👏🏼
Join me tomorrow in Madrid and experience the World 🌍 of Riedel yourself.

I’m back in beautiful Venice 🇮🇹 on the Lido at my favorite restaurant, Valentino ❤️ enjoying a remarkable bottle of Les Crêtes Chardonnay Cuvée Bois .cretes from Italy’s stunning Aosta Valley 👌🏻in the Alps near the borders of France 🇫🇷 and Switzerland 🇨🇭
This elegant mountain Chardonnay combines alpine freshness with beautiful richness and complexity layered with notes of ripe pear, citrus, vanilla, toasted oak, and a striking mineral finish. A truly world-class Italian white wine from one of the country’s smallest and most spectacular wine regions. Perfectly paired with an unforgettable evening by the sea in Venice eating local fish 🐟 and of course all wines served in the proper Riedel glasses 😉

Casual Tuesday night 😆 Pulling a vintage 1976 from my cellar. The question is: am I luck 🍀 Château de Camensac is a historic Fifth Growth estate located in the Haut-Médoc region of Bordeaux. The château has been producing Cabernet Sauvignon–based wines for centuries and is known for elegant, traditional Médoc wines with notes of to***co, cassis, and leather
The 1976 vintage in Bordeaux was marked by a hot, dry summer that produced concentrated wines, particularly on the Left Bank. Château de Camensac 1976 is now a mature wine offering tertiary aromas and flavors developed over nearly five decades of aging. Lucky 🍀 using the Riedel Fatto a Mano performance Cabernet glass to enjoy it 🍷
Special Sunday Wine FUNDAY edition for Mother’s Day in Austria 🇦🇹🍾 We start our barbecue 🍗 afternoon with my mom and my beautiful wife opening 2 truly amazing bottles. First up the Dom Pérignon 2006 Lady Gaga Edition sabred with a large knife for the very first time with my mom 😄 Her facial expression says it all 😱🤯pure shock, excitement, and laughter. Such a fun moment. After that, we move on to a perfectly decanted Dominus Estate Napa Valley 2011, drinking beautifully and pairing wonderfully with the barbecue. Great wine, family, sunshine 🌞 and unforgettable moments together. Cheers to all the mothers around the world ❤️🥂
It’s great to be back home 🙏🏻 just in time for the weekend ❤️ after a successful trip to Norway and Sweden 😉 I’m rewarding myself with a bottle of Château Palmer 2016 ☺️
pull the cork ✅ the wine is in perfect condition and since I’m taking it BYO to a restaurant, I’m now aerating it, which means transferring the wine into a decanter for fast-forward aeration ✔️ After that, I’m using a thief to pour the wine from the decanter back into the bottle, which allows me to take it to the restaurant where I will share it, perfectly aerated, with my family 👌🏻
It’s always good to learn something new. Enjoy your weekend.
People will smell. People will swirl. People will taste. People will be shocked 🤯The RIEDEL Wine Glass Experience ❤️ Today we welcome 300 wine lovers and enthusiasts for a Riedel workshop that will completely change the way they understand wine. 🍷 We will explore how the shape of a glass dramatically influences aroma, texture, balance, and the entire tasting experience. Guests will taste Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. each served in 4 different glass shapes discovering how every glass delivers the message of the wine and the character of the fruit in a unique way. Once you experience how much the right glass matters, there is no going back. This is why every wine lover should attend at least one of these seminars.

Spending the weekend on the French Riviera, enjoying my first bottle of Rosé 🍇 de Provence this year. It’s Minuty 281, the latest 2025 vintage. Here’s my trick 😉 many people don’t know (or don’t fully understand) rosé is even better when you “shock” 😱it, just like you would with any young wine. So why not do it with rosé?
You’ll benefit from it the wine deserves it. I love the Riedel Mosel decanter ✔️ for any wine that needs to be kept at the perfect temperature ❄️. The beauty of it is that you can pop it straight into ice 🧊 And the Riedel glass today? I love using a Champagne wine glass for Rosé de Provence keeping it fresh and taste 👅

Supporting the movement = Drink Bordeaux Young 🍷 with my mom .montecarlo 👍🏻 For decades, Bordeaux came with a rule: wait. 10, 20, sometimes 30 years… But a new mindset is emerging ✨ Drink Bordeaux Young 👌🏻 Today’s Bordeaux is evolving riper, more polished tannins, greater precision in the cellar, more immediate charm. These wines are no longer just about patience. They’re about pleasure in the moment ❤️Does that mean aging is over? Not at all. Great Bordeaux will always reward time.
But here’s the shift: 👉 You don’t have to wait to start enjoying it. Open a bottle earlier and decant 💯Discover its youthful energy. Follow its journey over time. Château La Fleur-Pétrus 2018 (Pomerol)
